The Mo Long counter Advent Calendar - Day 7
The team: Hathor Perna Homunculus (Dark - Unbalanced Field)
Usable against: Anything, but preferably on defs with no immunity or cleanses.
How it works: This is a CC team. If you've played or watched any RTA at all, then I don't think I need to explain how oppressive monsters like Hathor, Verad, and Gany can be against a team with no immunity or cleanse. The first turn can be a little scary sometimes depending on who outspeeds who, initial acc/res RNG checks, and procs. But once you start the CC chain, it's usually pretty smooth sailing from there.
I really like Perna as a Mo Long tank - the self-revive mechanic is so good because you can essentially think of it not just as a full heal, but also a cleanse that triggers automatically at the end of the opponent's turn. The cleanse part is especially important - even tanky monsters who can survive enemy Mo Long + Perna onslaught can still end up being useless due to being stunned. Meanwhile if Perna dies she can cleanse off any stun/def breaks on her own. She is also our only source of damage and healing in this team.
I found the unbalanced field dark homunculus to be a perfect support for the Hathor + Perna combo. The unbalanced field skill is huge for giving your team turn advantage and faster cycling of skills, while simultaneously impairing the enemy to give you a layer of safety if they proc out of cc. Not to mention if you time it right, you can use the CD increase to get rid of the enemy Perna's extra life. Her S1 and S2 are also useful for additional minor CC, stripping will runes if there's a Rakan or other immunity monster, and providing a def break for Perna.
If you are already using the support homunculus for a different role and looking for an alternative, just pull up any RTA tier list and you can substitute her with practically any other cc or turn cycling monster. Gany is obviously the best and probably even better than the dark homie, but even something as basic as a Bernard can work.
Strategy: There's not much to it. Focus on the enemy Perna or DD first if possible, or otherwise whoever resists CC. Prioritize keeping the CC chain going. Avoid waking up monsters to go for risky kills. Always save unbalanced field to use after Hathor uses her S3, don't waste it if Hathor S3 is already up.
Runing considerations:
Hathor - standard Vio/Will speedy support build with high acc. Having some res on her is nice too because you will be using her res lead, and high res will help you resist Ritesh def breaks/provokes and Perna stuns.
Perna - standard Vio/Will bruiser or DD build.
Homunculus - same as Hathor.
Seriousness factor: 7/10. Very solid against a number of different Mo Long defs. Loses points because you have minimal protection against first turn RNG, other than the fact that everyone on your team should be pretty tanky.
