no takers wow. bubble much?
The point about Obama being able to pass any legislation he wished for a short time is true, isn’t it? I’m from a country with a parliamentary system and I find the American system rather odd but I believe he at one point had control of both the house and the senate and could’ve passed anything he wanted. This conclusively proves Obama is a right-wing fake progressive despite his statements about pragmatism and negotiation, right?
Not all Democrats are willing to vote on leftist legislation, because they are not leftists. Joe Liebermann, a Democrat, did his best to defang the ACA during its initial proposal. And the ACA was hardly socialized healthcare.
Parties have much less control over their members in the US system than in a parliamentary system. There are Republican members of Congress in New York that are more liberal than Democrat representatives in Texas. The parties are kind of like coalitions despite nominally being a singular entity.
Big problem is the filibuster, which is essentially a veto by a minority of Senators. Stupid Dems should have blown it up in 2009, but they didn't want to. Not sure whether that's because they listened to the kleptocrats, or because getting rid of it diminishes the power of individual Senators.
No because many of those Democrats were from red states and were highly conservative. Federal systems like the USA’s are kind of a mess compared to parliamentary ones.
Dore is great because he's good at despooking people who would otherwise fall for con artists like Alex Jones.
