A reminder that kids are gross
It’s 11 pm and I’m dragging ass to make the 5 year old’s lunch for Kindergarten tomorrow. Grab the backpack and a bunch of papers fall out. Groan, DH did pickup Friday so I’m annoyed at him for not checking the bag after school.
I sit down by the front door to collect the scraps of construction paper and reach in to get the rest. My hand touches something cold and wet, snot texture but also solid. I scream, DH comes running, and I look in to find the core from the pear 🍐 he ate as his snack three damn mornings ago! WHY WHY WHY would he put it back in there?! 🤢🤬
So now I’m giving his backpack a whore’s bath in the kitchen sink bc of course it’s “spot clean only.” It’s too late to drink so I went outside for another cigarette before bed.
What lovely “surprises” have you all found in your offspring‘s school bags?
Update: the boy child says he put the pear back in there because “it wasn’t all gone.” Mkay, so you’re selective about the food you waste? This is the same kid who threw away today’s sliced fruit that HE REQUESTED yesterday because he “didn’t really want it.”

Lmao this reminded me of a comment i made in the parenting subreddit where i said it’s actually “whore’s bath” (not “horse bath” like the comment I replied to said). And that person replied to me saying “some of us don’t like to use those words.” 🙄🙄🙄
Well that's fucking obnoxious

"Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel ostrich-sized."
I love that I'm not the only person who uses that phrase.
That’s just...incredible.
I definitely can’t fit a horse into my kitchen /s
