Job vibes!

Good vibes please!

My husband was hit by one of the numerous tech layoffs and has been looking for work since mid November. He has several irons in the fire, but it's all moving slowly and he is increasingly stressed out.

Please send job vibes to Mr. Matho so we can all sleep at night again.

Miniest has a non ige mediated milk allergy. All of this is diagnosed by tele-medicine because we can't go to the doctor. (We're in Seattle)

EVERYTHING has milk in it. The TJs nuggets, all of the snacks we give Mini-matho. I have no idea what to feed him to get enough protein and calories into him. There isn't a bean to be found. He is currently subsisting on lunch meat and berries.

I also don't know whether we should become a dairy free zone entirely or not. Mini-matho is almost five and very good about not giving him any, but as he gets older I don't know if it's fair to have a bunch of stuff in the house he can't eat.

I am stuck at home and thinking way too hard about all this. Help?

F*ck coronavirus

what the FUCK?! 😱

No one in my house is sick, but we were all knocked flat by something a few weeks ago. Is it coronavirus? We don't know, nor can we find out. There aren't even enough tests to check for it at the long term care facility with at least 250 confirmed exposures.

The school district next to ours is out for two weeks. UW has cancelled all lectures. Amazon, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft have told people to work from home until at least the 25th and it will probably be extended.

The local economy is trashed. People will lose their homes because of this. They will lose their jobs and their health insurance. Kids will go hungry because they won't have school lunches. Even if not a single other pe

Coronavirus [tw: death]

medical woes 💉

The first death in Washington state happened at the hospital down the street, the hospital where my good friend just had her baby, the hospital that I just took my 13 month old to because he had a 105 degree fever (thanks, Roseola).

I am so scared to leave the house now. I don't want to take Mini matho to school. I don't want to go to the drug store to pick up my meds. I'm not entirely sure that panic is the wrong response. We have food for two weeks stored, but we couldn't get enough water. I don't know what to do other than wash my hands and pray. There are no atheists in foxholes has never been truer. I am so scared that the systems which could help are losing funding and the administrat

Christmas/holiday woes

medical woes 💉

I have the flu. My 11 month old had croup and now maybe has the flu. My 4.5 year old was the contagion vector and Mr. Matho is starting to look peaked.

I also learned that dexamethasone (the treatment for croup) can cause sleeplessness. In the case of my littlest, 11 hours and 39 minutes of it.

I've been absent for a while. My new meds make writing far more difficult, which really sucks. But, I miss you all and wish you the best holiday season possible.

True love is when...

shitpost/spouse brag💩

You and your spouse divvy up poo/vomit cleaning duty when everyone (excepting the baby, so far) in the house has noro.

We are using all the bleach and thanking the stars for Prime Now.

When my MIL comes to visit Mini-matho turns into a whining, screaming hell demon who cannot be told no and pitches a fit at the least impediment. She also loses all executive function and becomes so over stimulated that she hurts herself. For instance, in her desperate need to hug grandma right now, she slipped off her chair and slammed her nose into the dinner table. It's not broken, but she has two black eyes and a bruised nose.

She is also hitting, kicking, and biting us. All of this is encouraged somewhat by MIL. When Mini-matho acts up, she laughs. She refuses to set any boundaries and not in a "fun grandma," kind of way. She's in her sixties, not in great health, and sets no limits on

After there had been no appointments available for two weeks. And they were surprised at how many people showed up to the clinic.

We had to go to the pharmacy to get them done and have to wait another week for my littlest. I am so aggravated.

She's brilliant and imaginative and fun. I love her to bits, but she cannot sit still. I have gotten used to this and adapted accordingly, but sometimes...

We're sleep training the littlest Matho which is its own circle of hell. It took me half an hour to get him down. Then I needed to fill out OT paperwork, which they sent me today and needs to be in tomorrow. Forty minutes into his nap I hear her starting some craziness downstairs and ask her to slow down. Seconds later she is SCREAMING. I go down and she has smashed her eyebrow on the door and is wailing. I offer ice. She screams louder. Finally she tells me to take her upstairs to watch her Kindle.

I am putting her in her room and I he

Mini-matho is on a death kick. She asks if her brother is going to die, not because she wants him to, but because she loves him so much and wants to be with him forever.

She talks about our parrot who died two years ago. She asks about when her grandparents will die, when Mr. Matho and us will die. She asks when she will die. You get the idea.

I make it a point not to lie, but this is a hard one. I tell her that everyone dies eventually, but none of us are dying soon.

What do you all do in this situation? I don't want to stifle her curiosity, at the same time I don't want to encourage it.

They're going to Burning Man.

in crisis/say nice things🚨

I can't get 30 fucking seconds to myself, but my cousin-in-laws can leave their two kids (roughly the same age as mine: 4 yrs and a 7 month old) and go to Burning Man.

I just want to eat a meal alone and in silence. I want to shop for an hour without getting updates every 15 minutes. Unless one of the kids is on fire, they can live for two whole hours without me. I wanted to go to the gym after bedtime, but he had a tickle in his throat. I need space. I need sleep and exercise in order to stay sane (legitimately, lack of sleep and exercise causes rapid cycling).

I arranged a sitter for Sunday and made dinner reservations for our 13 year anniversary. I don't even want to go right now. It a

I haven't been myself in months.

mental health woes💉

Since my youngest was born I have been cycling between full blown mania (only for the first month after he was born), hypomania, and depression. I am medicated. (300mg of lamictal). I am planning on getting more medicated (Wellbutrin and birth control). I am starting back at the gym on Monday.

But, I am not me. I know my thoughts are not mine. My brain is high jacked constantly. I over share with everyone when I'm hypomanic and talk to no one when I'm depressed.

I take great care of my kids. I honor 99% of my myriad commitments, but I have zero identity beyond my mental illness right now. I know it will get better, or at least different, but it's really bad right now.
