Snow White and Rose Red is actually the name of a third separate Brothers Grimm story about helpful two sisters (whose descriptions fit Weiss and Ruby surprisingly well actually). Here's a link to read a version of the story if you're interested.

"Snow-White and Rose-Red" (German: Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot) is a German fairy tale. The best-known version is the one collected by the Brothers Grimm as tale number 161. An older, somewhat shorter version, The Ungrateful Dwarf, was written by Caroline Stahl (1776–1837); this in fact appears to be the oldest variant of the tale, as there are no known previous oral versions, although several have been collected since its publication. The oral variants of this tale are very limited in area.It is not to be confused with the Grimm fairy tale Snow White (which is written Schneewittchen in German, rather than Schneeweißchen) that provided the basis for the Walt Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Afaik, Melanie and Miltia Malachite are based on that fairytale.

I though they were early designs for Ruby and Weiss that got repurposed- and I just realized that that's arguably the same thing given characters can have multiple allusions and there's a not unlikely chance some characters may be sharing allusions as well.
(By the way what does Afaik stand for? I'm not familiar with that one)

Weiss: “Ruby: Remind me again how we end up in this mess?
Ruby: “Well, I was bored so a asked you if you wanted to go have some fun-“
Weiss: “I should have known when you didn’t specify the ‘fun’ it would be something like this.”
Ruby: “I think you did though! It took me puppy dog eyeing you to come!”
Weiss: “N-no! I just wasn’t allowing you to come out here by yourself.”
Ruby: “I would have been fine.”
Weiss: “Do you not see the situation we’re in?”
Ruby: “They’re just some smaller Grimm. I think a beuwolf pack mostly.”
Weiss: “Still you could be hurt, so it would be irresponsible to let my partner come alone. . . . I wouldn’t forgive myself if something happened to you.”
Ruby: “Aww, you care about me!”
Weiss: “Of course I do you dolt!”
Ruby: “And I care about you! Which is why I’ll be watching your back this whole fight as we slaughter them all!”
Weiss: “You’re certainly happy.”
Ruby: “Slaying Grimm is just much fun! Think about how awesome it will be!”
Weiss: “I suppose I’ll try to have fun, especially because we have to fight either way.”
Ruby: “That’s the spirit! You know Weiss, it’s always more fun fighting with you.”
Weiss: “You have a way of making almost anything more fun.”
Ruby: “I try! So. . . What do you say we show these Grimm what they’re really messing with?”
Weiss: “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
Ruby: “Is it having the most fun we can?”
Weiss: “I think so.”
Ruby: “Alright, so lets do that.”
Weiss: “I’m right with you.”
Ruby and Weiss: Ice Flower!
They destroy the Grimm in a volley of combo moves, really none of them standing a threat
Those Grimm won’t have time to learn exactly how terrible of a mistake they have just made.
Ruby and Weiss are probably the best at Grimm-killing even discounting Ruby’s eyes. Weiss is just so versatile with glyphs providing ranged attacks, moment, summons, etc and Ruby just is has designed herself to be a Grimm reaper.
Later, when they get back.
Ruby: “That was so fun, we should do it again soon!”
Weiss: “For now we should just relax, you don’t have to rush.”
Ruby: “But it’s so much fun fighting Grimm with you.”
Weiss: “W-we could always relax tog-together, if you want, that is.”
Ruby: “Aww, Weiss. You could always tell me if you want to do something.”
Weiss: “You dolt.”
Ruby: “Uh-huh. Let’s watch a movie.”
Weiss: “Fine! If you insist.”
Ruby: “Or... I could just leave.”
Weiss: “L-let’s watch that movie.”
Ruby: “Well, if you insist.”
Weiss: “I do.”
And so, they relaxed in-front of a movie, together.
