This is an amazing deal for black park avenue AE. I remember when it was like $180+ last year from Nordstrom and we had over hundred likes and comments .
People thought that was a once in a life time deal.
Looks like Covid-19 is hitting us hard.
(Edit if I didn't own this exact shoe I would cop, a black park avenue shoes is a clothing stable for interviews, weddings, and funerals).

Yeah I saw these on Amazon. Didn't want Park Aves but there was one pair of Walnut Strands in my size for 200! Yisssss. I was waiting for the stores to open up to get a pair of factory seconds for the same price.

I got a pair because everyone said that a black captoe oxford is THE dress shoe to get if you only get one, because of how versatile it is.
Sure it's versatile... IF you wear suits or semi-formal attire for work. If you don't have to wear dress pants and a dress shirt as a part of your regular life routine, you will never wear these. These are my wedding and, knock on wood, funeral shoes. I've worn them once in the 3 years I've had them. The other day I was shopping for a "2nd pair of AEs" to go with my Dark Chili McAllisters... then I remembered I already had a 2nd pair that I pretty much completely forgot about.
Dark Chili fifth avenues are perfectly fine in most formal occasions, and they can be worn casually as well. Way better value, IMO

yup. only reason why i own a pair of these damn things. wish my boots were formal enough but everyone shut that down. Also need to be a grownup so they sit collecting dust.

Depending on your family/friends/where you live, any black or dark colored shoe would work for funerals or weddings, but I'd much rather wear a black cap toe oxford for the former, even if nobody else notices or cares.
I don't think any oxford, brogued or not, really works well with anything less formal than odd trousers (not chinos) + button up shirt without a jacket (and is marginal even in that case), so it's really just a matter of color, where you get just a bit more versatility from the dark chili rather than black.
My preference as someone who never wears formal attire is to go with black cap toe oxfords, since it works better for the most formal of occasions and with the accelerating decrease of formality in society, "more versatile" oxfords aren't needed, since completely casual shoes will get you by just fine in any non-formal situation. This, of course, is different if you wear sport jackets on a daily basis, but then you should own more than one pair of nice shoes anyways to rotate.
