The Person in My Mirror
Not once shall I admit my fault!
I’d rather rub the wound with salt
and face the barrel of the colt
than tell my love the truth.
The person in my mirror is a cheater and a mute
My troubles bubble, boil and brew
a bath in which I sit and stew
and slowly steam, then aim at you
my blame... devoid of proof.
I pray you’ve made the same mistake... it eases my excuse
Your words will fall on deafened ears.
Your cries to 'Listen!' met with sneers,
as I project my deepest fears
and force you through the hoop.
How can you even touch me? I should make you want to puke...
I’ll judge without authority,
begrudge the words you promise me
and feed on your apology...
How lowly I have stooped?
Your constant love distracts me from the the taste of rotting fruit
Until one day you take no more
and gallop, freely out the door.
I’m left alone... a lowly whore whose lies came home to roost
