Bo Burnham’s latest special (and this song in particular) is a must watch, practically identical sentiment to Tim re: ‘the collapse’ through a different artistic lens.

It was slow, yet very well done and it wasn't a knee slapper, but I think the creativity made up for it. If you like Bo or alternative shit this will obviously be up your alley. He's not for everyone though.
Do yourself a favor and drop a star of death before watching. ENHANCE.
Make Happy and What. are definitely more funny IMO but holy hell this one is creative as hell for just him in what seems like 3 rooms for the entire thing.
Edit: the sock puppet was so hacky in the beginning but by the end i was laughing pretty hard. I suck i know
I agree each performance is made stronger by the others in an overall viewing sense.
Why is it just now occurring to me that a Tim Dillon and Bo Burnham duet would be the single greatest musical piece ever composed. Maybe even get The Great Raymond Kump as producer on the track.
Afghan war tribute remix
I think it went over Tim's head...
Tim was saying it was just white apologies...when I think that's what Bo was making fun of.
The ‘Hold Me Accountable’ song was tongue in cheek, sure, but the line “American white guys, we’ve had the floor for at least 400 years so maybe I should just shut the fuck up.” was genuine. I would defend that line but any defence I make would sound preachy and unfunny. So I’ll just meme instead.
Should’ve kept ya mouth shut.
He arrives at many of the same conclusions as Tim (and others), but is clearly still grappling with a lot of it.
Tim on the other hand seems like a nihilist/fatalist who knows there’s no hope or integrity and might as well take the Bluchew/Cereal ad dollars (even if it proves the absurdity/hypocrisy even further)
Edit: where did he discuss it? Would be interesting to hear his views - I’d have a hard time genuinely believing he thinks it’s shallow/cliche
Latest patreon episode he talks about it
Yeah he didn't watch the whole thing. He does say he knows he is talented and funny but Tim didn't watch the whole thing he checked out after the beginning and the whole sorry I'm white and doing this attention whore thing again. It was a valid point but if Tim watched the whole thing I think he would have got more out of it but that wouldn't be Tim. When has Tim really ever talked about a comedian being great except Alex Jones. I liked it but it was clunky in parts but overall funnier then most comedy specials.
It kinda was the white guy Nanette. Just because it's meta and self aware, doesn't mean it's not pretentious or self serving. In the end it wasn't stand up, and wasn't very funny.
I can’t say I laughed out loud but I thought it was clever and unique and I enjoyed it.
Tim discussed that aspect of it—how there are a lot of comedians now who aren’t really focused on actually being funny.
The evolution of the genre. Tim is doing traditional comedy. Bo is making art through comedy. Tim is not an artist as much as he is an entertainer
I wanted to like this. Watched the whole thing waiting for it to be good. Still like Bo tho so an upvote from me
He was kind of a guilty pleasure for me before but I thought it was pretty terrible.
Tim sarcastically impersonating Bo on the patreon episode had me going that was so good
I was listening to the Patreon really late last night and laughing way harder than I should have been at that hour. The Bo part was the funniest bit, and Tim was just riffing.
Same it’s rare I legit laugh out loud hard at a podcast alone it was nice
Oh my god I laugh almost non-stop at Tim’s podcasts, totally alone, all the time. Ha!
snoozer
Agreed. I was kind of vibing to the music but covidian humor is not entertaining at all to me at all. Maybe in June or 2020 it would have been.
Also how the fuck are there so many fans of the greatest comedian in the world and also Bo 🤔?
Yeah I could not get through this. You gotta decide on comedy or music or come up for a new name for these 'specials'. No one ever asked for an emotional Weird Al.
Y’all are some dense mother fuckers
Go watch some Mike Birbiglia
This special was beyond brilliant. I felt I was immediately watching an Instant Classic, a perfect time stamp and encapsulation of 2020 and the loneliness and existentialism that followed.
Bo Burnham is quite honestly a genius.
Oh, to be talented
Him holding a knife and staring at the camera was the funniest part to me for some reason.
I really enjoyed this special. It's not as funny as his other specials, but it's just so entertaining and well made. The last half is just fantastic. Bo is multi-talented in a pretty exceptional way.
Get this prick outta here...
Bo is both a comedic and musical genius. He could make a killing writing songs for people. He is talented on so many different levels.
The music was really good.
We're labelling him as a "musical genius" now are we? Slow down cowboy
He absolutely is a musical genius
Lennon. McCartney. Jackson. Cash. Bo. Checks out
Not sure why we're calling Jesse McCartney a musical genius all of a sudden
