The more clever hound

The more clever hound

Finds a way to steal his meal:

He is time bound,

For if he had once

Trot to owner with mingled zeal

He would be a dunce-

To be well subdued

The dog pretends his mood-

Negate wish of food

And the owner would

Find harm in this pet’s eschew

And supply more goods

Fearing starvation

Of the poor, swollen fiend:

Food contemplation-

The dog's wink gleaned.

Oh, hi there; didn't see you! You've reached r/OCPoetry. This is a workshop site where you can share, read, and talk about eachother's poetry & etc. To post your own poems, you need to give feedback to 2 other writers. If you aren't trying to share, you're encouraged to give feedback, but aren't required. Try to be nice, questioning, and specific. If you can't do that - eat a cabbage and come back later. Try to give feedback to a writer without any feedback. Lastly, read our feedback guide , other writer's comments, or this author’s feedback links. If you still aren't sure whether your comments are useful ‘feedback’, or you have any other questions, send us a modmail!

I really enjoyed your wording scheme. it's got a fun and attention gripping nature that carries the message through. My interpretation of the poem leads me to realize the premise of this story as it applies to other areas in life as though this story signifies a trope in patterns of the developmental nature we have as individuals and beings who are both oblidged to our nature and requirement for nurture. And how when nurture no longer serves us we find within our own nature a way to find our own nutrition through our own mortal means.
