On point extract, since its usually just one big chamber, it feels like you get dropped onto a warzone lmao. Itās usually like 10 minutes in before i can even touch an aquarq
So true.
Driller go Brrrrrrrr all day long.
You have a driller you should be done with the main obj in 10 min.
My boy bosco gets it done in 5
Bosco is a fucking champ lol
Unless it's an extremely vertical map
Driller can just drill to them.
its more difficult when its a stalactite
I just started playing and I havenāt seen any other mission be this unforgiving right out of the gate. I absolutely love it. Iād just like to say appreciate all you old miners that put up with and help out us Greenbeards.
I recommend CRSP Driller with the new fangled Microwave Gun. Best way to handle everything in it. Gun Turret Controller? Dig under and disable it. Sentry Bot? Flame it till it hits max burn and explode. Nemesis show up? Burn baby burn~. Fighting Praetorians or Oppressor? Burn it then cool it till it dies.
I've got sticky flames on my CRSP - which means they're terrible at everything robots. I've found my best all-round build is a Sludge DoT build build with single target over AoE. Combine that with the extra toxic dot from the new microwave emitter, and you've got a lot of damage being put out.
Seriously? Sticky flames? The best build for the CRSP revolves around quick Heat Build up. Not to mention Heat Status makes all but Boss Machines die instantly. Including Nemesis.
Does sticky flames work on the flying robots?
I like Flame Reach with max range, heat and ammo with the Wavecooker, the temp shock mod and the overclock that adds ammo and ROF. Makes robots a joke and you can temp shock a bulk det to death from a good range. Also crazy ammo efficient.
For rival presence I personally love face melter.
Seeing greenbeards lookin around and figuring stuff out is one of my favourite things in this game. I had a new one following me around after I guided him to the drop pod after a mission. He was a really good student and even messaged me afterwards thanking me for my stewardship. I enjoyed it though and seeing him looking for me when he got over run a bit was pretty funny. This was a little while ago now, heās probably got greenbeards of his own under his wing. Such is the cycle. You donāt want to neglect a fledgling otherwise you run the risk of creating rogue agents who will sabotage missions and C4 you.
Iāve had a lot of great Greybeards that have gone out of their way to help me out. Even going so far as to run a couple of missions for my first assignment with me. Iāll admit the first couple missions I pretty much just followed along and did my best to help out. Took me a couple times to realize I could use my spotter tool to check if something had any value or not. Hell it took me up u til a game or two ago to realize I could use it to ID any supply drops or players around me through walls.
There are some threads in this subs history with greybeard advice. Another nice trick is pressing space to orient yourself while the map view is open.
TBH I don't even think about the greenbeards as I'm running off to hack the control hub.
PROTIP ignore the turrets best as you can and look for the control hub. When you find it dig into the ground under it and hack it from below, nothing can hit you there.
My first haz 5 builds were a cryo cannon with axes and barbed drills (which I always use now). Freeze everything instantly with 15 freeze power and cold radiance then drill it for hp. Turns the driller into an actual melee class, and you can bring the epc with thin containment to learn how to use it. Dash and berserker are pretty much mandatory for more melee madness and just slamming any pesky oppressors to death
So goddamn true. I am on my first character - engineer, just hit lv20, 7 hours into DRG (most of them solo) and good lawd, the first time those tron wannabe machines start tearing me to shreds i completely lost it.
I completed my first industrial sabotage yesterday in a group abd there came a point where i simply had no idea what was going on or what to shoot at. Everything was lasers and angry mechanical arms and death. Aaaaaaaa-
Ouch. That sucks. But basically shows Hoxxess has become Nam. The walls speaking Elvish.
Hoxxess ā Klendathu
Would you like to know more?
Engineer: Drop a Nuke down a bug hole, you got alot of dead bugs.
As a Gunner, I'm doing my part!
A couple tips on dealing with Rivals if they have not already been offered,
The visible wiring (ex. The head of a patrol bot) are the weak spots
Shredders can be dispatched with pickaxe swings, IFG helps keep them in place
Fire damage is best to take care of bots
Hope this helps your journey from Greenbeard to Greybeard, Rock and Stone!
Play every mission in haz 1 solo, that's where I learned each mission's objective and stuff, rock and stone.
Glowing spots are pretty much always weak points.
For patrol bots and turrets, it's their gun/head. There's additional audio feedback when you hit weak points compared to normal hits.
The Nemesis has several weak points. One is hidden on the top under breakable armor.
When the caretaker spins you'll see the top corners open up and glow inside, shoot inside those. After you shoot them all until they close, the eye will open up on one side. If it doesn't open on the side facing you, you can easily tell which side its own by the red glow. The caretaker's main health bar is taken down by shooting the eye.
When the mechanical arms try to stab you, dodge and use a heavy pickaxe attack for an instant kill.
When the caretaker releases bombs, just run around until it stops.
When they release sniper turrets onto the ceiling, they're invincible until they're fully deployed and start shooting. So don't waste your ammo shooting them early.
My first thought when I was fighting them during season 1 was "why do these floating robots have more health then a praetorian..." then I thought fuck it and left to design an anti rival build which has only gotten better ever since they gave me coil gun because of the hellfire OC, just one charged shot and any turret within line of sight or even 8 meters behind a wall is fucked plus the fact that you can shoot a quarter charged shot and then just run through the damage field to make the shredders kill themselves coming after you
How quick some quit the second a Detonator or Nemesis appear I completely picture exactly this lol! You know they've experienced it before and it took a part of their soul..
During that time, you see the 3 greybeards sharing a beer and shooting eyes closed.
Actually doable with the good overclock XD
When the caves start speaking "Found something" but you're playing solo
I'm not a Greenbeard, but I'm still disappointed that I was spoiled the fact that Rival Nemeses use distorted voice lines. I usually play solo, and hearing another "Dwarf" call for me on a solo mission without knowing *what* it was would certainly have been an interesting experience.
My gaming chair probably wouldn't have liked it, but still.
PTSD of walking up to dead caretaker
I still havenāt done one and this is just further validation that I just might never do one.
Disclaimer: Iām a solo player
Best rival mission was one where directly outside the arrival pod was a spitter, a nemesis, and a turret swarm/controller, then bulk showed up after we dealt with them.
I donāt even know what was in my first Rival run. I stepped out of the gate and some crazy strong projectile came out of nowhere and I was eating dirt before I could even look around.
Probably a point blank tri-jaw.
They don't have the telegraphing of the sniper turret and if you get all three shots you're done.
Oh man, i hate Rival presence when i donāt think about switching my build, the thunderhead isnāt made to take care of these flyings toaster.
This feels like my first elimination mission. Except less stationary and more getting thrown around or clipping slightly into the boss because he will not stop until I am inside of his face
My friend started playing this season, his first mission had a nemesis lmao
Things are scary man! Turned around one time right as one came busting a dwarf size tunnel like āHEREEEāS JOHNNY!!ā
Hest haunted with getting them like every other mission while I'm here on my like 4th
I played a lot and promoted my first dwarf by the second day.
Upon promotion, the first thing I did was to play deep dive and elite dive right after.
This was exactly how I felt. I was lucky enough the deep dive folks carried me thru both rounds :)
Yeah, that was me yesterday doing haz 4 rival mission for the first time. I would like to formally apologize to my team and also thank them for getting me back up 14 times. Iām sorry. And thank you.
Even as a somewhat seasoned greybeard, Haz 4 Rival missions are no joke. I didn't want to min/max the game, but since these robots are immune to almost all the modifiers except for fire, my buddy and I had no choice but to go all in and rain down the holy flame of napalm on their mechanical asses.
The simultaneous spawns, sometimes at the worst possible moments, make for some hectic situations: mostly fun and unpredictable, but sometimes super unfair even if you try your best to plan ahead.
Yeah I think Nemesis just sits and waits for the worst time they could show up. āDance monkeys! Dance!ā
My first turret room just instantly made me take a breather, nemesis on the other hand was killed by bosco before I could even see it š
This is what it's like for me as a gold beard.
By mistake or misclick, I went into a haz 5 mission. And everyone was nice and fine and fun, but man, it was so brutal. I forgot how stressful.
That reminds me of the time when I forgot to tell my friend i would be increasing the difficulty.
He didn't check either.
Rival presence with Haz 4 is fun, but only if you're prepared.
Yeah I straight up play differently depending on whether it's Haz 3 or Haz 4.
So true!
If I just wanna chill and crunch some assignments, I play Haz 2 with him.
Lately we have had a lot more good players in our lobby when playing Haz 3 so that has become our new baseline.
Haz 4 Is still a bit crunchy at times. I have to make sure to bring the right class for me.
Haz 5 is no more chill talk. Only game talk
Haz 1: Rambo mode Haz 2: Quickly finishing assignments mode Haz 3: Chill, or finishing assignments + bonus xp Haz 4: Serious business Haz 5: I don't understand how people can play this and win consistently, it's a risky pick for me
Practice and right OCs, but mostly practice. The biggest issue i see with inexperienced people in haz 5 is lack of mobility and key tools for each class being under-utilized. Gunners not using ziplines for combat, engineers on the ground being zerged (they should be hopping around like a monkey in a tree canopy with platform bridges), scouts dying to swarms (no excuse, only acceptable way for a scout to die is by gravity), drillers not using freakish drill hands to carve new paths for themselves and the team. Mobility is key!
Experience, some patience (Dying is fun! Really! ^trust ^me.. ) and a good team. Oh, and everyone having a good loadout that works for them!
It does take some time getting used to the flow of it, but it's rewarding as hell when you do get it. (And no. The reward is generally not in XP or credits. Sadly enough.)
When you go into some random Haz 4 egg hunt and someone in the lobby is like "I'll grab all the eggs! You guys got this"... Except he doesn't say that, he just does it.
Please don't. We don't have any nitra for ammo dealing with swarms and waves of bugs.
The biggest difference between haz 4 and 5 is speed of the bugs. If you ain't sprinting constantly, they'll hit you. It's why I'll usually run neurotoxin gunner for the slow debuff.
Practice your movement. If you arenāt bouncing around everywhere you prob need to step up your game.
Some haz 5 missions can just be awful for sure, but if everyone is fully powered up and working together, itās doable. Definitely requires teamwork and iron will helps save some wipes.
Haz5 isnt that hard. Use the game sense you get from haz4 and keep going that way. Dont get hit ever, focus the right targets, etc.
And then you have my sorry butt that makes the game look more like starship troopers. There is more screaming and cursing then there is talking, especially when you get swarmed by 250+ bugs.
Hey no worries. That's legit.
I also scream. And sadly not very manly, since when the oppressor pops up before me, I turn into a girl
Gotta pack crisper and hot arrows for sure
once playing with someone who mainly plays haz 2-3 i upped it to haz 5 to see if they would notice and they did not so i decided to go with it, it went okay but we died after a bit and i then mentioned it was haz 5.
Theres no way they didnt notice. Haz 5 has double the swarm volume and glyphid HP as 3. I don't even remember if Haz 2 has proper swarms, just the occasional extra grunt or two
no i meant to see if they noticed when i changed it in the bottom of the screen, they realised something was off with enemy amounts and damage but assumed it was an extra bad haz 3 mission, we got pretty sparse swarms too (morkite mining).
laughs in haz 5 enjoyer
The Rock and Stones on this dwarf, are surely doubled dipped in Morkite...

Edit: I'm a simple genocide producer, not a green beard abuser.
