I’m a sucker for leviathan-themed stuff, so I love this. Eternal lightless depths to leviathan rising is a really evocative description that I think preserves the mystery of what is a leviathan, while giving a feeling of dread. Great work!

It’s very interesting that you said that. I was listening to a lot of metal when I wrote this. Specifically Mastodon. So cool that you picked up on that. Thanks for reading and commenting.

This is a power metal song. Like, add some big 80’s hair, a sweet riff, and a 9 minute solo, and this is a spectacle.

I like it. The imagery is fun, and the imaginary song version of it i’m hearing in my head now is also fun.

This is so great, dark and dramatic. I’d love to read this with kids (of an appropriate age) because it’s a whole story in a poem. Wonderful work

The sea has taken the ship. 


You’re now stranded alone, 


Kick, and try to stay afloat 


Above Poseidon’s throne. 



 Feel the rock of the waves 


And taste their salted crests 


Beneath your kicking feet 


Eternal lightless depths 




Stirring in the abyss 


Awakened beast from darkness 


Come the eater of ships  


Colossal and heartless 




Maker of tsunamis 


Pale death of the deep 


Leviathan rising 


He’ll drag you under to feast 




Thunder rolls, waves crash 


Impartial to your screams of pain 


Nearly bitten in half 


Descending fast to black 




In the graveyard of brave hearts 


The pressure will crush your skull 


Too dark for God to see 


Devoured in a ship wrecks hull
