Using your first city, what is your build order? Do you focus on using growth for units or population?

Using your first scout and military units, how do you spend your orders? Do you focus on conquering barbarians before they get stronger?

What are the first improvements that you develop? Do you go tree chopping, if so, when?

What's your stance on neighbours? Do you behave differently for tribal and civilizations?

When settling new cities, do you go for strategic placement or focus on vicinity?

Discuss!

When playing as an underdog, many areas feature negative efficiency modifiers. This makes construction to be expensive and slow, making it very hard to catch up.

While this might be an intended consequence of representing jungles and mountainous terrain , this is simply not fun with no easy solution, as the only way to counteract this is to build more expensive construction sectors or use the road maintenance edict.

I feel that Infrastructure should play a key role here, just like the Convoy amount has changed trade in the 1.2 update: excess infrastructure should provide a construction efficiency bonus, even if this is relatively small or capped.

This will make the duality of infrastruct

I've been playing Central America non-stop since the game released, and after a few runs, I think I've found the golden recipe to avoid the disaster.

Before unpasing:

  1. Reduce taxes to the minimum, increase wages to the maximum.
  2. Apply agricultural edicts to your three largest provinces: San Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
  3. Activate subsidies for every building.
  4. Import expensive goods from neighbouring markets, even if at a loss: Clothes, Furniture.
  5. Export goods which your population does not initially need: Tobacco, Fruit, Coffee.

Following these steps, I've been able to avoid the disaster on the first few months, avoiding secessions and being able to start my wood-chopping

Currently playing a Choson One campaign with Korea, whose capital is located in the Far East subcontinent and which allows for the establishment of Trace Companies in China.

Once I started expanding into China, I avoided hitting Gov. Cap. limit by establishing Trade Companies instead of estating territories. This was okay, because the Korean peninsula could hold my economy against my neighbors.

Fast forward, into the late game once I was already established as the Celestial Emperor and directly owned most of China, I began estating more and more territories, and here's the kicker:

Trade Companies provide a bonus to Goods Produced based on their Trade Power, which affect non-trade com

I love Humankind as a game, but I tend to play it as a world builder rather than a 4X and end up losing the will to play, mainly due to being declared a war I'm not interested in fighting, or having already colozined territories and expanded my cities.

I think one of the reasons I don't find the game engaging is due to how much the AI snowballs at some point, and I guess this is because I don't play to win.

For whatever reason, my WiFi connection keeps disconnecting, with no established pattern as far as I can see. It could be an issue with the DNS, because the Deck explicitly says "unable to reach Steam Servers".

I just wanted to get a second opinion before I dig deeper into my Deck or Switch configuration, or open a Support ticket with Steam. Thanks for any feedback. :)
