Edit: I'm American, Californian, doing research. And formatting, damn you formatting!

I've been reading up on the test kits being used to detect SARS-CoV-2, and a bit of information I can't seem to track down is how accessible these are to hospital staff, how regularly they are used, and under what criteria a case is considered to be confirmed and reported.

Some context: I am in the frustrating position of trying to explain to my own parents why I'm on lockdown and won't come to family dinners. To make matters worse, my mother had watched one too many videos of "civilian investigators" claiming that cases are being over-reported or that there isn't a virus at all.

In the interest of doing the best possible research I can for both my own and my mother's education, I'm trying to understand how reliable the figures are reg

I'm an Intermediate-Advanced Lindy-Hopper (Begintermediate Shag and Balboa), and I'll be in London from Thursday June 27th to Monday July 1st. Are there any locals that can point me to their favorite socials? I've had a look at the Swing Out London webpage, but it's almost too much information... I need some expert advice.

I'm staying at a hostel in Walworth, if that helps narrow it down; although I don't mind commuting.

I'm new to the Boogie-Woogie. While practicing the basic footwork I've noticed that my right leg gets very sore, much more than the left. I'm accustomed to using new muscles whenever I try a new dance, but this feels like I'm not distributing my weight properly. Has anyone had this issue before, and how would you recommend fixing it?

For reference, I'm learning the lead role for now. I'm practicing in closed position in a "V" with my partner, not perfectly squared off. We're doing the full triple, triple, kick-ballchange footwork and doing our best to slide between 8&1, 2&3, and between 5&6. When we do the kick-ballchange we're kicking slightly off to the side (slightly left for

I've been a Lindy Hopper going on five years now and I've become increasingly aware of a "slow" style that I'm interested in learning. The few videos I could dredge up on YouTube appear to be some fusion of Blues/Lindy; if anyone out there is experienced or informed with this dance, is that actually the case or is there some other underlying technique to it? I'm looking to be pointed in the right direction to start learning slow Lindy, even if that just means being pointed to any number of Blues workshops.

Cheers!

I'm paying more attention to my footwork and trying to play with alternate rhythms. For inspiration, does anyone want to share their favorite rhythm other than the rock/step-triple-step/step-triple basic?

I'm afraid I've been THAT GUY. It was unwise of me to drill some shag steps in my upstairs apartment, but I don't presently have access to dedicated space to practice my steps other than at socials once a week. I'm curious if anyone's been in a similar situation and has found a practical solution.

I can never decide how I would test a character racing a horse and mount. Naturally the character on foot tests Speed. Is it more appropriate to test the mount's Speed, or the rider's Riding? (Either way I presume that stride advantages should be factored).

I feel like testing the steed's Speed is more "fair" and intuitive, but I want the action to be focused on the the characters rather than their possessions... Again, I'm just looking for other input.

I'm setting up my first full-length Burning Wheel campaign in earnest. I'm very familiar with the system and have played it for months now, but I'm very curious for the input of fellow GameMasters: Where do you start when setting up a campaign? What details do you consider to be imperative, and do you consider it necessary to have characters burnt and beliefs established before you set anything in stone?

I'd like to note in terms of actual setting I'm starting small and building outward: one notable location at first, expanding my lore as the players travel and broaden their horizons.

See how they run! This worn-looking set of footwear resembles any sturdy pair of boots that have seen some action; yet slip them on and the character will realize that they’ve seen more miles than any other.

Seven-league boots are enchanted with incredibly potent magic that causes each stride the wearer takes to cover more distance than the last. Such magic starts off as a subtle spring in one’s step, but the longer the voyage the wearer is taking the more alarming the result becomes- the player will overstep fences and vault barns in single strides when they really get going!

With these boots, the wearer’s Stride is increased by their Will exponent. Additionally, the wearer may click thei

It's driving me nuts, guys. I've pored through the books and I still can't figure out what speed multipliers do in the mechanics that is different from stride. Have I missed something glaringly obvious or is anyone else as confused as I am?

I've double-checked the Fight! chapter in BWG and it always refers to stride for engaging and positioning. Since speed tests are used to traverse distance in a time-sensitive situation, I can't think of any other situations where speed multipliers come into play. At the same time, I don't think Luke & Co would have randomly introduced a useless mechanic. Help please?

Our story picks up again as Quentin (under the brilliant guise of “Quin”) and Adrielle (who was totes with him the WHOLE TIME) set foot into the Chapel of the Raven Queen, where they laid some coin in the alms box under an obsidian statue of Adrielle’s chosen deity before proceeding upstairs into what appeared to be living quarters for a startled elderly man. He introduced himself as the custodian to Arkona; an undertaker, gravedigger and priest of sorts. Quentin commissioned the fellow to carve a marble tome icon to remember their fallen comrade Dillon by before they set out to do a little more shopping for supplies. On their way out, Adrielle performed a slight-of-hand trick to place anoth
