I'm thinking of getting my own house built and I really like the idea of using hexagons for all of the rooms as they tessellate really well and they're not boring like squares/rectangles. I'm thinking maybe a central hex with the stairs and landings/lobbys, then 5 hexagonal rooms of the same size coming off of that central core (then maybe smaller hexes coming off those for en-suites).

Is this feasible? Would it be ridiculously expensive compared to building a box? Which walls in a hexagonal grid building would have to be structural (as I was thinking I could make a bigger room by knocking through the wall between two adjoining hexagons)?

In short, am I nuts?
