Please buy anything other than that driver, the GRS is pretty close (except for efficiency), the ODEUM line has way more xmax and less inductance. How did they justify a $200 price tag for a stamped frame and 80 oz ferrite motor with nearly 4.0mH of inductance? Are supply chains that fucked?

Hi y'all, I'm a mod of r/diysound but I think you'd appreciate this information since it's a car audio sub (that I was not going to use for car audio).

I've been browsing various 15" subs on the internet since the ones I want are out of stock and I came across the https://www.rockvilleaudio.com/w15k6d2-v2/ . w15k6d2 v2 (placing this here for google keywords in case someone searches for a post like this)

ON PAPER it had decent motor force, xmax, sensitivity, mms. Everything I look for in a decent subwoofer. Unfortunately I ordered one and the specs are way off. instead of the qts being 0.6, it's a whopping 0.93 lol. mms is 322 instead of 271, LE is damn near DOUBLE what they specify (4.0 i

Essentially this all adds up to meaning that above 50hz you lose a LOT of output compared to what you modeled.

A potential replacement for the dayton PA460 in the popular VBSS cabinet?

https://www.parts-express.com/GRS-18PT-8-18-Paper-Cone-Prosound-Woofer-3-Voice-Coil-8-Ohm-292-810

The PA460 used to be like $99 I think but the price has just kept creeping up (I think it's 140 now), this GRS driver looks to be slightly better with xmax and slightly worse in sensitivity while being literally half the cost.

Here's a newly listed cheap $40 driver with decent xmax (12.5mm), decent inductance, and even decent motor force (suitable for horn use). It's con is low efficiency

  • The "high end?" reference series, these are all 3" voice coils I believe

These all have strong motor force and good inductance values

15" 27mm xmax $300 https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-RSS390HE-22-15-Reference-Series-High-Excursion-Subwoofer-22-ohm-295-292

12" 25mm xmax $250 https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-RSS315HE-22-12-Reference-Series-High-Excursion-Subwoofer-22-ohm-295-291

10" 25mm xmax $220

https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-RSS265HE-22-10-Reference-Series-High-Excursion-Subwoofer-22-ohm-295-290

  • Budget (but still extreme) subwoofers (much higher inductance than the above subwoofers and a 2.5" voice coil)

15" 24mm xmax? $200 (different values

It feels like we havent had a driver that was such a champion of all cabinet styles. Whether it be tapped horn, vented or sealed, the lms ultra came out on top cu ft per cu ft. Not terribly efficient, but even the raw power handling and xmax alone were just incredible. The LMS versions of tapped horns on databass are very impressive https://data-bass.com/#/systems?_k=7sdpbg . https://www.parts-express.com/tc-sounds-lms-ultra-5400-18-dvc-subwoofer--293-666

A boy can dream, but really. When is BLF or TLF going to come together to make an enthusiast charger?

My proposed features

capacity/voltage limiting (so you can charge a battery to 85% capacity instead of 100%, increasing cycle life SIGNIFICANTLY)

LED column charge indicators (like the windows volume mixer signal indicators)

custom high current charging, most 18650s can take a lot more than an amp in the 10-60% charge range without significant loss of capacity.

audio alert for charge

HD display ?

lasers !

double duty as a powerbank ?

tritium inserts !

money printer
