Even just reading the description of Baku, it makes me believe that this yokai is what Pochita is based on, if not straight up being Baku in CSM universe. This theory explains pretty much every question mark about him.

Every lonely person I wanted to help out showed me why they are lonely or not liked by others very quickly. They have all been self centered and wallowing in their misery. They never actually wanted help. They loved being the victim and crying about not having any friends even when I was there ACTIVELY trying to help and be there for them.
