By popular request from the thread that had covered the journey to Spider 20 as well as character builds.
You can see for yourself how Ultimate galek, paragon, armiger and stitched beasts take down the dungeon boss.
It’s now time to stop lurking around and contribute to this sub a little bit. Spider 20 is a pain. It is especially a pain if you don’t have one of the critical components the vast majority of teams have – Coldhearts. After opening more than a 100 voids I’ve yet to get a single one. Neither was I lucky enough to pull Lua or Psylar, mass unkillable or aoe burn.
However, we have a guide on spider 20 and we have u/lythandra2 who has provided breakdowns on how he achieved victory over different affinities of high level spider.
**Update: there's now [a video of a spider 20 run](https
Part 9. Rule 8.
The rules for self-promotion don’t seem to be clearly understood. It’s best if you’re an active contributor the subreddit before you promote your material outside the subreddit, be it a video, stream, article or anything else. However, for your first post on this subreddit it’s 100% fine to self-promote.
What we ask is that you engage in discussion, answer questions about your content or participate in any way (e.g. in the weekly sticky threads) afterwards. We’re looking at a 10 non-promotional posts per a self-promotion post as a good ratio you should strive towards.
What we want to avoid:
A user posts “look at my stream/video!” with a link and no comments. Proceeds to d
Part 8. Rule 7. One rule to rule them all.
Just a bit left. Application of Rule 7 is important and the bans from it are in the top-3 from all the rule roster.
If a user has a history of baseless negative comments and submissions, their post may be removed. This is different from Rule 1 or Rule 4 application which applies to the first offence.
The multiplier for repeated offences isexponential. When we encounter multiple offences from the same user we won’t wait around and slowly add 3 days temp ban, then 3 days again followed by another 3 day ban.
We believe the users of r/MagicArena are mature enough to take some responsibility for their actions. Let’s have a look at some application ex
Part 7. Rules 5 and 6
We continue with the rule application series of posts. This one will be short. Just a few more rules left to cover!
Rule 5 is to Make as few individual posts as possible. It should be pretty self-explanatory. We’re an active subreddit and the situations where multiple posts over a few days are rare (this post itself is an example). If you’re sharing decklists or content it’s best to have them bundled up in some way and have a follow-up story to go with it.
We rarely ban people for rule 5, most of the time a reminder or a warning is where we stop with the application.
Rule 6: No discussion/links to pirated software/mods/exploits
If you post about datamining MTGA and
Part 6. Rule 4 interpretation
This is a widely applied and popular rule for deleting threads and issuing warnings. It also applies to fluff so let’s discuss this rule and its application.
Don't spam the subreddit is a rule that combats low quality posts. As we’ve discussed in Part 1 our goal is to encourage high-quality content that everyone who visits the subreddit enjoys. We want the posters to be able to create content for the r/MagicArena and to abide by this rule.
Example 1
User posts: “Screenshot of reaching mythic/7 wins in Constructed Event/ICR pulls/boardstate and includes the decklist and description” and is reported for rule 4
Mod action: This qualifies as a good effort o
Part 5. Rules 2 and 3 application
Those two rules are grouped together because their application is pretty straightforward. The majority of our bans are related to rules 1, 4 and 7 so this thread is only for the real enthusiasts :)
All posts must be related to Magic The Gathering Arena. We evaluate the topics based on how closely related to Magic Arena they are.
Example 1
User posts: “Here’s a metagame breakdown of MTG legacy metagame” and is reported for rule 2
Mod action: Delete the thread, warn the user that legacy has little bearing on MTGA.
Example 2
User posts: “Here’s a 3D model of Lyra I
Part 4. Application of Rule 1.
The juicy bits are here. How exactly do we apply the rules in practice? The series continues.
Rule 1 is a simple rule, Be kind to your fellow Planeswalkers. This includes no insults, flaming, harassing, or threatening of anyone on this sub.
Behind this simplicity hides complexity of application. We want the discussion to be a mature and fun one befitting of a popular online game. This entails certain limits.
Example 1.
User writes: “I’ve had the shittiest luck” and is reported for rule 1
Mod action: This refers to the user himself, non-malicious. Ignore the report, rule not broken
User writes: “you’re stupid” and is reported for rule 1
Mod action
Part 3. Crime and punishment
We’re continuing with the series of clarification on how moderators do their duties. You can find the links to the previous parts at the bottom of the post.
By now you have probably read the rules. So let’s have a look at what types of punishment may be taken for the heinous crimes:
Warning
Modmail mute
Temporary 3 day ban
Temporary 7 day ban
Temporary 14 day ban
Temporary 30 day ban
Permanent ban
Shadowban
Never unban
Warning is given when we don’t feel the way the person had crossed the line should warrant a ban. This is also the queue to have a quick look at the user’s post history. If
Part 2. Do moderators dream of electric sheep? What do mods actually do?
Thank you for the warm reception of part 1! We’re set to continue with more information about how the moderators do their duties. In this part we discuss what those duties actually consist of.
An active moderator on r/MagicArena tries to make the goal outlined in Part 1 a reality. We want this subreddit to provide the best experience. What does the moderator do to make sure this happens?
Moderators go through the following routine daily:
Check and clear the mod queue where all your reports are accumulated Check the modmail to repl
Hello fellow Planeswalkers!
We’ve now achieved a milestone of 100k subs. It’s a good time to look at where we currently are and speak of our subreddit plans.

We’re happy to announce the first version of the Beginner’s guide to MTGA that should help new players get into the game. It will remain a sticky until Thursday.
If you have suggestions or requests for something to be included in the guide, explained with a higher priority or just your attitude towards it, do let me know.
The guide is bound to be changed and updated a lot, perhaps even with different sections merging or splitting, so your comments on what’s urgently needed will help shape it.
Happy Belated New Year from the Magic Arena mod team!
