I’ve been sent a recording of a phone call, where the caller sounds like he’s talking through a pillow. I’ve run a vocal booster over it, and given the highs a boost in the Graphic EQ, which has cleaned it up - but wondered if you had any suggestions to improve. Thanks.

I’d love to read a potted history of interesting displays of war-time intelligence (ideally not just WWII). Something that covers both the ‘winners’ and the ‘losers’ from conflicts gone by. Interesting scientific developments, unusual tactics, deceptions, espionage, double-crossing, outsmarting the opposition - that kind of thing.

I’ve managed to find some WWII British Intelligence books, but I know most of those stories. I’d love some stories from the Cold War.

Thanks for suggestions.

A senior member of the team has just announced that she’s stepping down, which will eventually leave a large void. I’m a few paygrades below her, but she’s suggested that I propose a restructure, which would create an ideal step-up for me.

I’ve arranged a catch up with the relevant people, but how blatant should I be about the new role (and how suitable I would be for it)? Should I just come out and say - “here’s an idea for a new role, and hey, here’s why I’m ideal for it!”?

Given that I can’t really go to my line-managers (because this will affect them), any advice, pointers, tips, suggestions, stories etc would be greatly appreciated. I have 24 hours to put my pitch together.

Two seasons ago, we relied on a fairly standard attack through the front three of Salah/Firmino/Mane. Last season, we locked up midfield and used our FB’s to provide an attacking option (presumably knowing that the opposition defence would focus on our potent front three). How (if at all) do you see our tactics changing this season (given that the opposition will now try and shut Robbo and TAA down as well)?

Anything to get off the subject of transfers.
