China and Vietnam have Socialist mixed economies and were able to rapidly grow their economy and bring millions out of poverty, but the problem is that they aren't very democratic. Meanwhile in South America Socialism tends to become populist and you know how that turned out in Venezuela.
Once you are able to settle how to make Mixed Economies can be democratic without too much populism, you con proceed to discuss on full planned economies.
Capitalism is making it harder for climate action to achieve the goal of 40% CO2 reduction. People are proposing to abandon capitalism in order to more easily. I totally get how they think. It would be simply amazing if the world has planned economies and is able to reduce consumption at will without destroying the economy with a recession in the process, but remember, we only have until 2030 to reduce emissions. Not to mention every country has to make the transition at the same time because tragedy of the commons.
By the way, my flair is "Eco-Socialist" and I am not in favor of completely dismantling capitalism, but instead nationalizing key industries, such as fossil fuel, transport, ene
I know that this depends on the situation, so I will tell you the situation.
No Nuclear power (yet) but has a plant capable of revival. There are lots of geothermal plants already powering the grid, about 17%. The target is to double the capacity by 2030. With so much focus on Geothermal, making it cheaper, will Nuclear ever make sense? Which is better, considering both environment and energy independence?
Which one is the best?
I am a Filipino-Japanese 10th grader. In the Philippines, Junior High School is from 7th to 10th grade, the Senior High School is 11th and 12th grade. I want to aid in the development of future Nuclear Reactors, so I want to be a Nuclear Physicist /Engineer. Where do you think I should study for University or perhaps Senior High School? Should I stay here in the Philippines or move to Japan, or perhaps some other place?
Additional Information: I speak English, Filipino, and Japanese. I can speak 1h-per school day student level Chinese. In Japan Middle school ends at 9th grade and High School starts 10th grade.
Delta Variant made it difficult to meet my friends, so we met on Zoom and Discord yesterday. It was fun the first half but on the second half they were playing Minecraft while my slow internet made me take time updating to 1.17.1.
And on my actual birthday, I have a bad case of diarrhea
A lot of the new nuclear technologies I am excited about are coming in the 30's, late 20's at best. Are there good reactor designs coming earlier?
And to define "good" it would be safer, doesn't have to be totally safe, just enough that it won't take 10 years just to make one. It's okay if waste won't change.
Usually the nuclear industry is together with trainsets I don't need and are not compatible with other newGRFs
I have a Japan train set NewGRF. I want Shinkansen lines that also have 140km/h and 200km/h speed limits and are usable by ordinary Shinkansen (not only mini Shinkansen), as well as 200km/h track only usable by mini shinkansen and ordinary standard gauge trains. What's the quickest way? Currently I have neither NML or NFO.
The thing most capitalists are scared about is the massive loss of life under the Soviet Union. Most of them were under Stalin’s USSR. I do understand the atrocities in the Stalin era was bad, but most people forget that the Soviet Union still existed between 1953 and 1991. The people who lived under it want the Soviet Union to return because they feel life was better back then. I hear very little about the bad things in post-Stalin USSR because they get overshadowed by those during Stalin’s USSR.
Is there a NewGRF where you can build curved rails and 1:2 slopes like in mobile?
This argument is used a lot. “Once the government realizes how much power they have, greed takes over. It happened in every planned economy ever.”
I am sick of these debates I left unanswered. Any arguments against this?
