A place for members of r/RealLifeStoryTales to chat with each other

Edit: Reddit didn't want to include a bunch of what I originally wanted to say. I get told constantly, "You have the best stories!" while in real life I think I'm pretty boring. Just weird things keep on happening man, I can't explain it.

This is kind of a weird post but I was involved in a crash off McNeil and 183 yesterday afternoon. I was waiting at the stoplight at McNeil to turn north on 183 near the Walgreens and a lady rear-ended me very hard, causing me to crash into the car in front of me. From what I was told she was driving down the road with her hood bent up over her windshield and already missing a tire, riding on the rim when she hit me without braking. At over 40mph. I guess she had hit someone earlier and was fleeing.

The car stuff all sucks but luckily there were some very kind people on the scene to help. I am kind of worried about medical things though. I am a healthcare worker but do not have health insur

So I was pretty devastated. But I made a bunch of flyers and was overwhelmed with the feedback I got from my neighbors. I got calls all hours of the day and night, with people actively helping me track him.

He's back home now! I have never had a lost pet return to me so it's a crazy feeling.

Just a reminder that Austin is full of really good people.

Species: cat

Age: 10 months

Sex/Neuter status: neutered

Breed: ? Domestic

Body weight: 13 lbs

History: Got him 3 months ago from the shelter. He is a HUGE cat and has a crazy appetite, and goes #2 at least 2-3 times per day. At first it was kind of liquidey and smelled absolutely foul so I took him to the vet, who de-wormed him. Things didn't improve so we took him back. Vet puts him on Blue Buffalo GI food and gives us FortiFlora probiotics. Things seem fine for awhile (now he's producing logs), but lately he's been regularly pooing in our bathtub, which is directly next to his box. He'll #1 in the box just fine. He used to #2 in the box and occasionally in the tub, but lately he almos

Age: 8 months

Sex/Neuter status: male/getting neutered next week

Body weight: 15 lbs

History: NSF

Clinucal signs: I just adopted my new friend today. While bringing him in the house my dog (a German Shepherd) ran up to his carrier to sniff and he understandably got spooked. I put him in our bathroom with food, water and a litterbox and left the cage door open, then shut the bathroom door so he could calm down. I went in a half hour later to check on him and he'd sprayed inside his carrier, so he's covered in it.

We have a baby gate and plan on relocating him to our much bigger master bathroom for the next couple of days so him and our dog can get used to each ot

I have severe dry eyes secondary to an autoimmune disease and they have gotten really painful lately. Stinging, burning and constantly being bloodshot, but the discomfort bothers me much more than the appearance does. I have punctal plugs on my 2 lower tear ducts and use those Blink Jell-O type eye drops in the morning (because I sleep with my eyes partially open and its worse then) and regular rewetting drops during the day, is there anything else I can do? I was thinking about plugging the upper tear ducts too, would that help very much? This shit sucks. Thanks.

I used to use Frank & Sandy's Auto Repair, and they were great - I could order parts online, make an appointment to bring my car in, and would only get charged labor costs. Then they closed, which sucked a lot. Anyone know a good mechanic? Looking for someone in North Austin hopefully. Thanks

Might be kind of an oddball question, but I have scoliosis and it's been really uncomfortable wearing a bra lately. One band under my left armpit will fold over in half and start digging into my side, and the right shoulder's strap will continually fall down so I have to constantly dig under my shirt to pull it up. I'll pull the right shoulder's strap tight but it still happens.

Are there any companies that make custom bras for this type of situation? And I know I can't make the curve go away, but is there anything I should be doing to make things better? Thanks.

Does anyone know why the police helicopter was circling around the Wells Branch area last night? Supposedly it was for a robbery of some type but I can't find a news story about it.

Best route?

Ask Austin

I'm doing some work around the city and next week I have to be at a location off Slaughter by 7:45am. I live near 45 and Mopac, Wells Branch area. I had to work off 35th today and it took me an hour to get there (via Mopac). Just trying to figure out the best way to go about this and how long of a commute I should expect. Thanks

I have a 6-year-old German Shepherd. She was crate-trained initially but now just chills wherever around the house. We moved and ended up putting her crate in our guest bedroom because 1) it had extra space and 2) she's very well-behaved and never needs to be crated anymore. We normally keep the door to the guest bedroom shut because we also have a cat, and I don't want the cat walking around on the guest bed in case someone with cat allergies stays with us. But last night my SO was snoring pretty bad so I went to the guest bedroom. Dog came with and slept in her crate. This morning she didn't want to seem to get out of it. Should I move it? She also has her own dog bed in our bedroom but us

My dog (6-year-old female) started licking her feet a couple of years ago. My SO heard from a coworker that it might be a chicken allergy - and one of the main ingredients in her food at the time was chicken - so we changed it to a lamb-based one, and things stopped for a while. Now she's back at it again. Only now she's licking everything: sheets, the carpet, concrete floor in the garage, pillows (gross), the couch, and on and on. She's very good with commands and when I tell her no she stops, but then I come home and it's obvious she's been licking her arm all day, or the bed (giant wet spots being a dead giveaway). Is the licking of other objects a coping mechanism for her knowing she's

Hello all. I apologize in advance for my ridiculous story but here goes. Earlier this month I was let go from my job of 3.5 years. In a nutshell I put a lock on our staff fridge because our monthly oral surgery team kept on eating everyone else's food despite requests to stop. I have zerio prior transgressions, write-ups or any kind of oral "talking-to" about this.

I filed for unemployment but it looks like my boss is fighting it. I have no knowledge of legal anything and am just wondering how to proceed.
