I’m an SWE with 9+ yoe, majorly worked with US (one FAANG level) giants throughout my career. Im looking to switch to AI roles mainly because of two reasons -
-
SWE job market is saturated and with AI becoming smarter each day, it worries me.
-
I’ve been really good at mathematics since school days (part of the reason I used to be a competitive coder) and am deeply interested to put that to use again in my life.
If anyone in this sub has made a switch to being an AI engineer from an SWE or works as an AI engineer since the beginning, I’d be really grateful if you could help me out here with the roadmap and if making this switch is worth.
Reddit helped me a lot during my application process, just giving it back.
Slots of VFS Bengaluru get booked really fast so if you're planning in the next 2 months, my advice would be to book quickly.
I earlier got the slot for September 15 but after checking repeatedly I got the slot for 28th August. Got my passport couriered today.
VFS process -> I was allowed inside before 5 minutes of the appointment time. Once inside, I was called to the counter within 10 minutes of my entry. Since the documents were good, the person at the counter checked it and it took 5 minutes to submit and make the payment. I was kept waiting for the receipt for 30 minutes which was a bit annoying. The entire pr
The salesman informed me that the project had started in 2017-2018 but the construction stopped due to covid and some permission issues. They've restarted with selling the apartments. The layout of the apartments is pretty old as they're providing only one balcony and no separation between kitchen and utility area. I read some older reviews online which said the project has been dead for years and no construction has happened. They're currently quoting ~10k/sqft which is cheaper than what most of the builders are quoting in the current market. Is it worth investing there?
Not exactly a rant but I'm perplexed. Just came out of a meeting where I had to present. I have been practicing everyday with VR, speaking infront of audience of 25/50/100 people just so i can be more fluent. I don't have confidence issues. I'm very fluent even while practicing with VR in general.
Today for the presentation, I went in pretty calm, there was a bit of nervousness but the moment i started speaking, I just couldn't catch a breath. Even though I didn't get into any major blocks, I was using the filler 'ah' almost after every word which to me was feeling so annoying while speaking but i just couldn't help it. I don't know how the brain works specifically when i thought VR can ma
Been in the arranged marriage process for around 2 years now. I(30 M) do get good number of matches but I’m pretty selective about whom I want to invest my time and emotions into. Just wanted to write down a few experiences because honestly this whole process has been way more emotionally exhausting than I expected.
- Girl 1 (Last year around May)
We matched and started vibing well after a couple of phone calls. She was honestly everything I thought I wanted in a partner. Ambitious, smart, same pay bracket, loved cooking (we cooked together at times), loved travelling, emotionally mature. Everything was just easy with her.
The weird part was that even after all this, I couldn’t feel roma
Every time I sit down for lunch with colleagues or go out with them, I end up feeling awful about my stutter. People don’t wait for me to finish, sometimes they don’t respond at all, and other times it feels like they just aren’t interested. It’s been this way since the start of my career. And honestly, it makes me want to pull away and keep to myself—even though I don’t actually like isolating. Most of the time, I just sit there pretending to be a good listener while feeling ignored as everyone else keeps talking. I'm seriously done with this shit. I dread living the next 30 years with a serious stutter like I've spent last 30. I'm not suicidal but moments like these bring in those thoughts
For a full 100% charge, I'm seeing SOT of 3hours 40 minutes and screen off time of 11 hours. Everyday I'm charging my phone atleast twice because of severe battery drain.
If anyone has been through their process, I’d really appreciate insights on what to expect in each round. Currently unemployed, so any help would mean a lot. Thanks!
Men: If you belong to a middle class family and often receive requests from women who's family income is quite higher relatively or have a strong background, do you accept their requests or talk to them?
I often don't because somewhere i feel it'd be difficult for them to adjust with your way of doing things. Growing up in a middle class family vs a rich family is a quite different.
Women: I'd love your perspective as well on this topic from both the sides (Sending and Receiving). Some of my female friends are not comfortable marrying a guy with an influential family or high NW because of power games that might come into play after marriage.
I had quit my job from a Tier 1 couple of months back due to intense work pressure and an incompetent manager, in a hope of taking a break, studying hard and cracking another Tier 1. As of now, I'm not getting any interview calls. Applied to 20 companies this week in EU and my resume did not get shortlist in half of them. The rest haven't responded. Market seems saturated.
Also, I'm a FE dev and haven't been practicing leetcode for a while now. Not even sure if they'll ask LC for my role.
I’ll be turning 30 soon and honestly, I don’t feel the urge to get married. It’s not that I have anything against it, but I just don’t see a strong enough upside to it.
I’ve been in the arranged marriage process for over two years now and have received at least 500 connection requests (not boasting, just stating facts) – mostly because of my CTC and physique. Out of those, I’ve only spoken to six women and met four in person. All of them were great—smart, kind, and genuinely wonderful people. Yet, something inside me just didn’t click.
At first, I thought maybe I was being too picky or that I’d feel different once I met "the one." But after so many interactions, I’ve realized that I’m not
I've lately been diagnosed with inattentive ADHD and that's how I landed in this sub. A bit of backstory -
I have had a stutter since the age of 4. Although growing up I was decent in studies but was particularly good in mathematics, puzzles, sudoku etc. Logic made my brain move. Everything else bored me to hell and I used to slip into daydreaming while doing any other thing that didn't interest me.
Fast forward to today, I resigned from my job at one of the best software companies in the world and I do not have a job offer in hand. 0I've been a software engineer for the past 8 years and working here was always a dream. I lost all interest I had mainly because sometimes it was too hard t
