Found the targeting mode option under Skill Binds on the left. Can't figure out how to change my targeting mode to Ranged -> Targeting Area -> Precise. It only gives me options to Select or go Back when I hover over Targeting Area.

Wanted to journal and put a name to a difficult feeling I noticed. Yesterday I gave two presentations that I put together in a rush as the final assignments to do before a few days off. The first one was easy, fun and I felt good about it. The second one was a challenge. I was the last of 12 for the day and wanted to spend time on the material but was supposed to only talk for ten minutes. And I was tired. The instructor said, "two minutes," letting me know to speed up. I went over my allotted 10min by about 90 seconds, but during that time half the class noisily gathered their stuff and left. At the time, I was barely aware of what they were doing because of the laptop screen shining in my

I went on a midnight walk last night to clear my head and look at the moon. I've been living downtown in a new city/state since early this year. It was quiet except for a few cars missing their catalytic converters and some bar noise and flashing lights. I passed a few bar patios and enjoyed the ambience of people yelling their life's story to each other outside, remembering that is the arena where I used to go to connect with people.

I love hearing people's unfiltered stories, hopes and dreams. Strip clubs and bars were a great place for that honestly, but frequenting them came at the cost of my finances and mental health. I appreciate some of the experiences I had in those spaces, and ot

I am curious about community support meetings in-person or virtual that have a similar scope as Emotions Anonymous, Violence Anonymous, or Codependents Anonymous but without the 12 step approach. Another way to look at it would be something like SMART Recovery with a focus on anxiety, depression, and emotional issues more than substance use. I want to understand the scope of what exists for community support here for myself and to refer friends who are starting to get interested. Thanks!

I want to share about my experience and realizations I have had related to growing up with a parent preoccupied with alcohol.

I grew up with an alcoholic mom. She was first kicked out of the house when I was 3, she occasionally returned until I was 7, and then her custody was removed and after that I visited her semi-annually until I was 14. I told her to stop contacting me because it hurt too much to hear her tell me she was going to make positive changes while I witnessed signs she was continuing to drink. The fact that cutting her off was my only coping mechanism and was encouraged by my father so that he would be more comfortable is a separate story about having two parents (and a step

I saw a post here about a week ago asking people to share their positive experiences with alcohol. My first reactions were, "that doesn't belong here! that could be a dangerous way of thinking. what is this person trying to rationalize? what kind of question is that?"

Then I realized I couldn't think of a single good memory that was not overshadowed by negativity from the next day. I could remember the interesting stranger I met at the bar, but my memory of having a headache and lying in bed with anxiety the next day was stronger. I could remember raising shots with people for only a moment before I remembered the fear I felt waking up without any of my personal belongings. Even mildly enjo

I deleted a whole essay about myself to share this update instead: I'm thinking a whole lot and not feeling very much.

Thoughts include worries about what might happen IF I take certain actions. Mostly centered around thinking there are few safe actions for me to take.

Feelings I am avoiding are sadness, loss, anger, disgust, loneliness, and fear. I am postponing these types of feelings until...? Cue the thoughts. What will happen if I feel? How long will it take, will the feeling change afterwards, will I change, will my view of the world or my friend change?

The resulting experience is that I think I am distant from myself. I am not trusting myself. I am open but not vulnerable. This re

Hello, I've taken a step forward with quitting by submitting for a badge. I don't want to have to reset it too soon. My goal is 90 days without viewing anything, but honestly I know that it negatively affects my mental state every time I go checking all the usual sites for updates. I think it's best if I stay away from pornographic material for good.

I feel my heartrate go up and my blood pressure drop as I start to go through the steps to turn off porn blocking features on my phone. When I browse 2-3 times a day that easily takes up useful hours and leaves me with no energy. My brain goes into overdrive problem-solving how I will find the perfect content that makes me forget about all my p

Today I have to reset after a 17 day streak. I never kept track using an app before, but I think that was my longest stretch in almost 10 years. It's been about 20 years since I first got hooked on sex on the screen.

Days 12-17 were brutal for me, the closest experience I've had was when I quit drinking alcohol for good. Inside my brain felt broken as my dopamine equilibrium fell. I played video games nonstop, which was alright, but I also got extra addicted to my phone and social media which I didn't like. When I obsessively check my phone, I am usually seeking female attention from someone who I will never see intimately in person. I felt like crap about how I obsessed over female bodies

I feel the need to journal about this weekend's ups and downs related to addictions and relationships, and how my mental state affects my perception of everything going on. So here goes...

Saturday was tough for me emotionally and mentally. I spent most of it lying in bed, cycling between feeling a headache, an anxiety in my chest, and a constant worry about my future plans and direction of my life. Low and slow panic all afternoon and evening. Caffeine was a factor. I overdid it in the morning. Plans I had made were a factor. I was going to stay with people who might be using alcohol, weed, and psychedelics in the evening. I decided to not show up based on how ungrounded I felt, and how an

Before

I was standing in the full blast of confusing, agonizing pain with a bottle in my hand saying, "BRING IT!" Alcohol was my shield. Everything that was wrong in my life was my fault. I was fully involved carving out a meager life for myself in the small space afforded by my shield. The blast never ceased. I was alone against the blinding white wall.

Then

Alone in my room, the door barricaded, I came back into consciousness for the third time that afternoon. Day three or four of a week I planned to binge. I took stock of the alcohol I had left, but there was a problem. I had booze, water, food, and a place to piss. That's all I needed. That was the equation for life. I became aware of

I have an update to share. I have made a connection between internalized emotional abuse and my recovery journey.

Early in recovery I cut off certain relationships because they were places were I usually acted in ways that went against my values. At that time I thought my values were keeping myself alive, not hurting myself and not hurting other people. I thought my problems were having one alcoholic parent who died without amends, and being addicted myself. I recruited a therapist to help me stay sober. It turned out I needed their help finding the roots of my addiction.

After working through therapeutic processes, I noticed a trend of fighting the same mental

TW: ideation

I was stuck in spirals within cycles trying to sustain my ability to drink. Drinking refused to be convenient for me. It affected things it wasn't allowed to: my income, housing arrangements and public record. Drinking alcohol had a 50/50 chance of inspiring me to drive to get more, which might end everything for me directly or indirectly as I gambled the lives of many other people. I was not in control of those actions after I began to drink on any day. Evidence suggested I needed to address how to stop the first sip, because a familiar sequence would cascade after that. However, the familiar sequence became peppered with surprises over time as I realized I had lost control.
