Platforms: PC

Genre: Platformer?

Estimated year of release: 90s

Graphics/art style: Flat polygonal, early 3D, “eerie”

Notable characters: No idea

Notable gameplay mechanics: a hot air balloon takes the player to platforms in a skybox, either at the start of the game or between levels

Other details: there may have been a puzzle element involving placing bombs, but I could be conflating that with a different game of the area. I remember watching my grandfather play games on his PC and this was one that stuck in my mind due to what I remember to be an eerie/ethereal vibe.

I want some advice on this plumbing issue, which seems to cause a slow drain for a bathroom sink. The toilet and shower in the bathroom appear unaffected. I am not a plumber and the terms I am using in quotes are from this article: https://www.thespruce.com/know-your-house-drainage-system-1822515

After disassembling the drain trap and using an auger, I could not remove the assumed clog and called a plumber. After a lot of effort, they put a hole into the "branch pipe" (horizontal pipe after the sink's trap) and ended up removing this section to replace. Looking inside of the removed section there appears to be a length of pipe within the "soil pipe" (larger diameter vertical pipe running in

I have Tailscale running on various machines using NixOS, including a web server setup with nginx. I've enabled services.nginx.tailscaleAuth with the name of my tailnet and a test virtual host. When I view the test vhost from multiple devices with Tailscale active, I see a 401 page.

journalctl -eu tailscale-nginx-auth.service shows logs indicating it, e.g., can't look up 97.x.y.z:61612: peer not found. The port changes occasionally.

My guess is that there is some disconnect in the Tailscale connection, given the simplicity of the configuration. I'm not particularly knowled

I have several eero mesh routers and do not pay a subscription for network management features, preferring instead to use an OPNsense router/firewall. In bridge mode, it is necessary for an eero to sit at the head of the network; when all eeros exist at the same level, e.g., all wired to the same switch, a loopback issue can occur, bringing everything down. This requires me to put an eero router in bridge mode between my OPNsense router and main network switch, at which point everything is wired in a typical fashion.

With a 1Gbps fiber line, I don't believe this setup is impacting internet speeds, or at least I am satisfied with what I'm getting. Would this arrangement negatively impact lo

The first set of wheels I built were all with common components that made calculating spoke tension trivial. Now I'm building a rear wheel with an odd hub that I can't find measurements for.

I measured the OLD at 130mm which seems to be common for rear road hubs, then took the distance from each flange, calculated the center-to-flange and validated those two calculated numbers with the measured flange-to-flange distance, which was within 0.5mm. Plugging these numbers into freespoke Gives a tension distribution of 42% for my left side: [https://kstoerz.com/freespoke/?link=1&e=565&wL=39.31&wR=16.17&dL=66.72&dR=66.87&s=2.7&n=32&xL=2&xR=2](https://kstoerz.com

I have a TIG welder and gas cylinder and would really like to get set up somewhere to start practicing again. Before moving to Portland, I learned to weld in an industrial arts space and then found some used equipment to set up in my garage. I’d like to find a space to rent or share that can accommodate my equipment but not really sure where to look.

I’ve been looking on Craigslist and asking around but the only places I’ve found that could allow welding are very large and expensive. All I really need is a box with a window/ventilation and a 220V plug.

I removed a surge protector from an outlet without first shutting it off. When I did so, I heard a sound (probably from the breaker box) and now the outlet is dead. Additionally, all the outlets on the same circuit are dead. However, no breaker in the breaker box was tripped, leading me to think that the fuse in the breaker has blown.

It seems straightforward enough to replace a breaker, but it is not clear which breaker specifically is dead (they are labeled but there are a few candidates). I have a non-contact voltage tester which might be too sensitive to use to isolate the specific breaker that needs to be replaced. When I get my multimeter back from a friend, I believe I'd need to remo

I just moved to Portland and I'm looking for social rides that are somewhere between the slow party pace of Thursday Night Ride and a drop/racing pace with people who seem to only own lycra.

It would be rad to find a 10-20 mile ride with hills that also has a social element, like hanging out at a viewpoint and having a few beers. I'm sure Portland has rides like this in spades and it's just a matter of finding them. Let me know where to look!

I moved into this apartment a little while back and there are these large windows with no form of covering:

https://imgur.com/EaQ9P7P

At the top there are brackets mounted, which I guess were from previous blinds (the squarish ones) and curtains (the flat ones with a hole):

The geometry of the windows makes hanging curtains a bit confusing to me, because the wall above is not flush meaning I’m not sure how to avoid creating a large gap with a rod. Also the size of the windows makes everything a bit harder to source parts for. The dimensions are:

  • 45” across for the 3 pane left/right windows
  • 75” across

I moved to the Pearl district last month and found that basically the whole area is metered parking with no permitting system. I looked at some garages but besides being pretty expensive, many lack the clearance needed for my van / are not very thrilled if I mention I’m basically looking for somewhere to park for long stretches of time, e.g. I’m not commuting with my vehicle.

Right now I’m paying for a parking spot a 15 min bike ride away, and the main issue is that I get a bit nervous given it is out of sight and in a fairly populated neighborhood. Since parking it closer doesn’t seem to be an option, I am wondering if people know of places further afield that it could be parked. Anywhere

I'm wanting to get a nice knife. here's the questionnaire:

  1. Style: gyutou or santoku
  2. Steel: carbon
  3. Handle: Not sure. octagonal looks cool?
  4. Grip: pinch
  5. Length: 210mm
  6. Uses: mostly vegetables
  7. Care: I have a whetstone and honing rod
  8. Budget: $200 to $300ish

to elaborate a little, I'm hoping to get something that can hold a good edge and that potentially I can use with a pinch grip rocking chop, though I'm aware that some people recommend a thrust chop for flatter blades and I'm open to learning that technique. I use this whetstone. I'd like the blade to develop a patina over time. I'd like it to look cool as well 😎
