We're expecting twin girls this fall and are stuck on a name for twin A. When we didn't know we were having twins Claudia was our top pick for a girl, once we found out two girl names were needed we had semi settled on Elowen and Linnea but the more we see the babies on ultrasounds and I feel them move the more both names feel too soft for twin B. Claudia feels right to me for her, but we can't find a name we love for baby A. It's important to both of us that the twins have the same number of letters/syllables in their names (also matches older siblings), we don't want their names to start with the same letter or be too matchy/rhyming. We're more willing to compromise on syllables than lett

We just found out last week that our baby 3 due this fall is actually 3 and 4 and are trying to come up with name options. We don't know genders yet and haven't decided if we will find out before they get here so we need boy and girl options. Our older kids both have 3 syllable 7 letter first names and I would love to stay with that pattern but am struggling coming up with sets of names we like that fit. I'd prefer not to share the older two's names for anonymity's sake but both names have old English origins and fall outside of the top 100 names for their birth years, our son's name has grown some in popularity but our daughter's is still extremely uncommon.

Our top choices before finding

I got laid off at 10 weeks pregnant, and while obviously less than ideal between savings, severance, and unemployment we were going to be ok. It was going to be tight, but my car can work for a while longer and I can fit 3 seats (we have two older kids, one in a booster and one in a 5 point harness), we still have some of the baby clothes, the crib, a bouncer seat, etc so I just needed to budget for consumables and bargain shop for some extras we don't have anymore and a new carseat. We planned the pregnancy and were going to upgrade my car to a minivan this summer and had a plan in place to get into a bigger house next summer, which is all obviously delayed now. But we just found out we're

Weird situation...

advice/question 🎱

My kids just started a sport. They did a short session (once a week for a month) of basic beginner stuff to make sure they like it before we buy all the gear and invest more time in it. Roughly 40 3-8 year olds in the program, plus 15 ish 6-12 year old "helpers" and 6 coaches, it was chaos, all the beginner kids wore the same jerseys and helmets and it was hard to pick your kid out of the mob a lot of the time. At one point my older kid came running over to me and I saw another parent video recording and taking still images, weird but I figured she lost track of her kid and thought mine was hers. So I go get him and she's still taking video and snapping still shots while I'm holding my kid,

I was listening in to my kids playing parents and babies with their dolls upstairs. The five year old wasn't being particularly nice, so the 3 year old informed him "you can't be my baby's daddy anymore. I don't need you. I'll just be their mama AND their daddy. So hmph." And she ran off to her own room to be her baby's mama and daddy. She's gonna be fun as a teenager...

My mom wants to take my children (3 and almost 5) for an entire weekend every month going forward. It's not happening. I'm not ready for them to spend that much time away from me, they're not ready to spend the time away from me, and even if neither of those points were true or valid I don't want them staying with my parents. They undermine my parenting and say negative things about my husband, and they don't follow important rules because "grandma's house, grandma's rules". They feed my kids whatever they want including things that make them sick, they allow tv shows I absolutely do not want them watching and/or are age inappropriate, and they don't provide adequate supervision. Plus my old

My dog probably has a brain tumor. This sucks. She went from fine a month ago to we may have weeks left. We could try an MRI and possibly surgery if it's something operable, but with how fast she's deteriorating it might get us a couple extra weeks even if we could rush everything through before she hits a point of no return. She is our first baby, we got her a week before we got engaged. We expected another 3-4 years with her. The kids have never known life without her. I need to prepare my kids for this and prepare myself for explaining over and over what happened and why and where she went. I don't even know where to start, I can't think about it without ugly crying, much less talk to the

broken bones

sad 😭

My kid broke his collarbone today at school. They took 6 hours to call and tell me about it, but that's a separate issue (my kid does have a history of playing up injuries to try and go home early). He's now terrified of taking his sling off, and can't get comfortable laying down to go to sleep. He desperately wants cuddles but can't get himself settled with me without being in pain. And the ER gave him Tylenol 30 minutes after I had given him Motrin, so now I can't even give him anything for the pain for another hour, and he is exhausted and just wants to sleep. How do you even help a 4 year old deal with a broken collarbone? I feel so bad for him.

I'll toss in the preschooler for good measure. 2.5 and 4, curly hair, chubby cheeks. Still awake 3 hours past bedtime and ridiculously overtired, miss 2.5 now wants milk and Mr 4 is just laying on the floor crying. 4 year old is a great cuddler, 2.5 gives the best compliments.

In all seriousness I adore them both and tomorrow they'll be the sweetest and I will love being their mama, but why the fuck are they still awake?!

My 3.5 year old argued hard against going to school today.

-his eyes were too tired and couldn't wake up

-his penis needed to toot before he could go pee

-he needed to poop, but his poops were too busy arguing and wouldn't come out

-he forgot how to walk

-he needed just two more cuddles

-he had too many coughs

-his arm didn't fit in his shirt

-he couldn't figure out how to put his pants on

-he didn't want to eat breakfast

-he actually did want to eat breakfast

-his shoe bit his foot, so it was in time out

-his poops were done arguing, so he needed to go potty again

-he needed his shoe to apologize for biting him before he could put it on

-the car was too far away

-he forgot h

Both my kids got an upper respiratory infection that turned into croup last week. The week before oldest had run his eye into a door handle and had a black eye, the week before that he had 6 nosebleeds in 24 hours, and before that was another respiratory illnesses. Just as oldest seemed to have gotten over the most recent bout of croup he started waking up flailing and screaming, crying that something hurt but he couldn't tell me what, and fighting going back to sleep. For 3 nights he averaged 5 hours of sleep, when he usually sleeps 11-12, which also meant I didn't sleep. I called his ped office after the first night and they couldn't get us in for two days, night 3 was slightly better and

I hate fruit in yogurt. I like yogurt, I like fruit, I like fruit with yogurt. I hate fruit in yogurt. My husband was trying to be sweet and got me yogurts for breakfast while grocery shopping this week since I forgot to add them to my pick up order (I do a pick up order from a different store for ripple milk and a few extras I want). The damn things all have fruit in them. Not even blended up fruit, just chunks of mushy fruit that don't belong in smooth yogurt. I tried to eat one and couldn't get through the texture, now my husband is treating me (not in a mean way) like I'm crazy. I just really really hate fruit in yogurt. And I can't feed them to my kids, because oldest has the same textu

My husband scheduled a vet appointment for this morning. You know, the morning when our kids have swim lessons that he already has to be dragged out of bed to make it to on time (have to have both parents there because I'm in the water with youngest) and lunch gets pushed late and as a result so does nap time, and naptime has to end on time because I'm taking the kids to my parents house to visit after nap so we have to be up on time. Puppy really does need the vet visit, so ok, gotta make it work.

I figure out that if I can get the kids into a later swim lesson and get my husband out of bed and downstairs with them so he can doze on the couch while they are eating breakfast in front of th

My kids had a covid exposure at their daycare and are home for the week. Possibly longer, so far we know at least a dozen kids at the daycare are sick so who knows, I'm just hoping desperately that my kids don't get sick. Multiple kids in both of their classes are covid positive as of this morning. I've been sick since Saturday (not covid, just miserable sick. I tested negative for covid and strep yesterday). I can't keep anything down and I'm trying to stay away from the kids as much as possible, because the last thing we need is toddlers throwing up everywhere while I'm out of commission. Our stove died last week and had to be replaced, the new one is scheduled to be delivered Friday but i
