reddit.comHow responsive is the instant pace on your Amazfit? I purchased an Active Premium 3 a few weeks ago, to try Amazfit and see it it works for me. I usually do sprints once a week, 10 to 15s at 3:00 Min / Km. I ran yesterday with a Fenix 8 and the Active Premium 3 and was somewhat disappointing in this area, on the 5 sprints it picked a max of only 3:30 but I hit under 3:05 in all of them. I know I'm comparing a 1000 € watch with a 150 € one, but I was not using dual-band GPS and I was in an open area.
I'm planning to dump Garmin for many reasons, most likely the T-Rex 3 Pro 44 mm, it lines up better with the activities that I do; but I do need accurate and responsive pace to nail interval ses
For more than 6 weeks now this issue has been reported with no fix in sight. For any runner doing structured training, sprints / intervals are going to be a recurring session each week so this bug means many runners are unable to use their expensive watches to train.
But that's not all, treadmill running is also broken, the calibration is not working you get a pace that is like 2x the actual pace. So running inside doesn't work either.
These bugs are so obvious that one wonders how they got into production software. Obviously no proper testing had been done. And even worse is that these bugs have been reported over a month ago; considering that it breaks the watch for many runners this is
Firmware 22.35 introduced a nasty bug for runners: when you do sudden accelerations, like when doing sprints, strides or fartlek the instant pace can drop to 0.00 and will get stuck there for the rest of the session. The recent firmware 22.38 does not fix the issue and the latest beta 23.11 does not mention this either. So this issue has been going on for more than a month with no fix in sight.
If you're a runner this is a serious issue, it will affect all running metrics: training load, anaerobic load, power, etc. So serious that make the watch unusable for running and racing.
I reported the issue a few weeks ago, Garmin contacted me for logs which I already sent but no news after that.
DO NOT UPGRADE IF YOU DO POOL SWIMMING. After the activity total distance reported in the watch is always zero and sometimes the watch will simply crash. 100% reproducible on my Pace Pro. Today I did three sessions on 25 m and 50 m pool and each time got the same bug. I've already reported it to Coros. After sync, the data seems correct in the app but since it can crash there is a high chance of losing your session's data.
Today I've done my race, so I figured it may be useful to post how the training plan went. For context, I've run this same race for a few years. Also I'm a triathlete so I run, swim and bike, and have done so through out this plan, 2 swims/week and 1-2 bike rides on top of what the plan suggested. Some weeks I changed a planned short run for a swim or bike session. Usually I run about 45 Km/week and this plan has about 30 Km/week, so I made some runs longer when it made sense.
The hardest run for me was the ~16-17 Km Half-Marathon paces, where you do about 5 Km slower than HM pace, and then 11 Km slightly faster than HM pace. I used gels for this session, it's long and quite hard, and serve
Yesterday I did my first triathlon with the Apex 2. It worked well but not perfectly, I'll explain. I did the Sgrail 100 Girona which is no ordinary triathlon 1500 m swim in Cadaqués, 87 Km Gravel, 10.5 trail run. Because it's gravel and trail I had to use the Multisport activity not the Triathlon.
The first issue that I had is that when you go into a transition and press the crown button it shows "Transition" but doesn't do anything yet. This has probably changed with the october udate as the help doesn't reflect this. You have to press a second time to confirm that you're in trantision if you don't it will be in swim mode although it doesn't show that. So my swim + T1 were mixed up. I don
I recently got this watch, I am testing it to see if it better suits my needs compared to Garmin. I'm a triathlete so I swim a lot, bike, run plus some gym work. So far I like it for running and cycling, I get the metrics that I need (plus more, I'm still learning). Also I run a lot in the trails and the maps are so much easier to follow that on my Fenix 7.
But swim tracking is really weak. I cannot set an alert every 500 m, so I have to keep count of the laps which is something that I want the watch to do for me. Also when I do 50 m reps and I press the lap button at the end there is a noticeable lag added to my split of about 3 to 4 seconds, so if I'm doing 50 s reps it shows as 53 or 54
I got pushed this software version and I'm currently suffering from these bugs (most confirmed by other users on the Garmin Forum as well):
I've had Garmin Fenix 6S (and a Forerunner before) and for over a year the Fenix 7. I use it 24x7, for racing, sleeping, everything. So it has as much data as it can hope for. But Stamina is almost always so wrong, in races and even trainings. I did the Sgrail 100 (a gravel triathlon) and the stamina was all the way down to 1 by Km 60 of the bike leg (with 32 Km more to go and after that the run). In the track when doing intervals I've also seen it down to 1 with a few more intervals to go, in races, etc. It just doesn't do anything useful for me, running or cycling. I don't bother with it in races, of course, it's only when I go home and look at the numbers that I realize the watch though I
When I purchased my Fenix 7 it came without maps, so I plugged it overnight and left it downloading the maps with WiFi. From time to time I have been checking if an update was available by going into the maps admin on the watch, but this never showed one. So recently I installed Garmin Express on my computer and it said that map updates where available. Unfortunately the whole European map no longer fits in the available space (!). I had to delete the whole map and then download only the Western Europe region. This worked fine however the map admin on the watch says that there's still an update for my European map but that I need some 850 MB os space to download it, even though Garmin Expres
Let me start by explaining that I'm mostly a short distance triathlete that does some races off-season. Mostly on the trails but with an occasional half-marathon on the road. So I definitely can run but not necessarily for 42,195 Km 😅 . Last year I decided to give it a shot, so I signed up early to give me time to train, I wanted 16 to 20 weeks of training. I signed for Barcelona Marathon because that's where I live, easy.
I downloaded some training plans online for free, but being free they're not tailored for you and don't evolve with your training. So I thought about giving the Fenix 7 a try. I opened the calendar, added the race, which was already listed and ready to be selected, choose
I'm not saying that it matches you against counters, a counter for you is a good matchup for the other player. But it does look at the decks as well as other parameters like tower level. How do we know? Have you started playing and then got nearly the same match up two or three times in a row? This is a regular occurrence for me. If the match making was random the chances of this happening are tiny. And I'm talking of decks that aren't that common, say three times in a row against lava-loon with only two different support cards? Or two sparky decks? The only explanation is that they do look at the decks.
Have any of you had the same match up two or three times in a row? If you play regularl
Today I ran a 10 Km beating my previous PB by about 2 minutes, down to 44:20 (official time, watch time 44:24). My Fenix 7 estimate was 44:38. Considering this course was not that flat and it was a relatively hot day, the estimation must be way off. Also after the race, the estimated time has not adjusted itself 😅 .
But that's not all. The stamina started dropping quickly as I increased my pace (I ran negative splits), at minute 17 it was 60% but dropping quickly. It reached zero at minute 35 🤣🤣🤣 . At that point my splits were under 4:10 Min / Km and going down with each Km. The last 2,5 Km: 4:10, 4:05, 3:55 Min / Km.
I ran with a heart-strap and the Garmin Dynamics run pod, so the Garmin
I have been using a Fenix 6S for the last two years (not Pro). The smaller size made it comfortable to use during the day and not too bothersome at night. I do outdoors activities every day, use it as my head unit in my bike, plan routes for trail running, MTB and road cycling, etc. So I really wanted maps on board. Also since maps on a slightly bigger screen than the S should be so much better I went for the Fenix 7.
When it arrived home and I opened the box I thought I got the 7X instead, the first impression is that it's huge coming from the 6S. I even checked the model number on the back, but no error it was the 7. So I strapped it to my wrist and it felt ok to my relief. Bigger, yes, b
