I’m rewatching the World Enough and Time two parter and had a few questions, mostly regarding The Master

  • Why does Missy not remember being on the ship before? I get that she wouldn’t remember meeting herself because of timelines and all that, but he was on the ship for at LEAST ten years before then, how come he doesn’t remember?

  • How did the Master recognise Missy through the TV he was watching with Bill? I would have assume Bill told him herself, but he tells Missy that it took him “a while to figure out” who she is?

and most important of all

  • The Master getting a boner over himself... would it be sex or masturbation if they did it??

And I mean ACTUAL unpopular opinions. No “I hate Rose” or “Series 11 is terrible” or anything like that. What are your hot takes? Gimme the juiciest you have.

Here are mine;

  • The Cybermen are shite villains and should stop being written into the show.

  • River’s story ended perfectly and she should not return.

  • John Simm is the best master, in all three of his appearances. He was also horribly underused in The Doctor Falls

  • Ten was poorly used in Day Of The Doctor. Comic relief was all he contributed.

  • Lastly, a larger Tardis team brings more to the show than one companion (not sure if this is unpopular or not but I see people complaining about the size of the Tardis team right no

I was watching The End Of Time recently, and was loving every second (I know some people hate it, don’t judge me 😭)

Everything felt final and conclusive, and the story was coming to a perfect close... and then the regeneration happens. I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but having the last scenes of the regeneration episodes be a new Doctor acting weird and crashing the Tardis is getting a little bit repetitive.

I feel like it kinda works in Parting of the Ways and Time of the Doctor, since you’ve still got Rose and Clara to experience the scene. But with End Of Time and Twice Upon a Time, it’s kind of a mood killer.

Is there any way around this? I’m thinking maybe it shouldn’t

I adore Day of the Doctor, I really do. It’s one of the most ambitious episodes of the revived series and it somehow managed to satisfy old and new fans and made it seem EASY.

That being said, I’ve always had one minor problem when I watch it. You see, when I watch “The Five Doctors”, something I always loved was that it felt like each Doctor was being pulled out of their era. For example, Jon Pertwee’s first scenes felt like some kind of sequel/unseen adventure from his time as the Doctor.

When I watch Day Of The Doctor, it feels like David Tennant is making a great return to the role, but that’s exactly what it feels like. A return, not so much a peek into the past. He didn’t have a lo

I don’t just mean past Doctors, I mean the ones who are getting on a bit in life. Say what you will but David Tennant didn’t really look like S4 Ten during Day Of The Doctor.

Eccleston certainly can’t pass for his S1 days.

Personally I don’t have much of an issue with it, at all, I’d rather just see 9, 10, 11 and 12 again :D

What about 4-7? (8 looks the same let’s be real)

Everyone says “I never noticed that in the cinema” and I’m like... how?

It was literally the first thing I thought when he took down his hood and I saw that haircut. Obviously I didn’t expect the twist that he was projecting himself, but I knew something was up right from the moment I saw him.

I just don’t get how anyone could miss that? Spent 2 hours with the guy looking like a hobo and then he walks in all fresh and young... just how???

I know that stuff happens behind the scenes and there’s no guarantee that a show will survive but... the way RTD just kind of up and left the show, not handing it on to anyone else or anything and just letting it die after a cliffhanger he himself wrote? Kind of bums me out.

All I want is one more series, to conclude the show for good. Big Finish is great but it’s STILL GOING and hasn’t managed to capture the feel of the OG show.

Ending Series 1 on a regeneration cliffhanger was the right decision, as I don’t think the reboot series would have survived the first regeneration story four seasons in.

It also means he’s the only Doctor to have a clearly delivered character arc over his era (maybe excluding 8, 10 and 12).

The bigger shame is that he never returned for Day Of The Doctor! Still holding out hope for Big Finish 😀

For those who don’t know (although I think it’s probably common knowledge) the 2005 series mostly used synthesised strings and sample sounds to create its soundtrack.

Because of this, I honestly think it’s the best soundtrack they’ve ever produced for Doctor Who. For episodes like “Parting of the Ways”, it gives the show a proper sci fi feel whilst also being epic and dramatic with its use of a vocal chorus (the last fifteen minutes of so are outstanding, i.e I think you need a Doctor). Episodes like “Rose” have a creepy, mysterious feel (turn of the earth) while “Father’s Day” uses piano in a beautiful melancholic way.

It’s hard to put into words why I love it but by far the greatest t
