I'm a senior undergraduate student in the US conducting a mental health research study for my capstone/honors project. The topic I am examining is niche and timely, the study design is robust, and I have received IRB approval -- so, with enough study participants, I (and my mentors) believe the results could be publishable.

The question is: I've been asked to contribute a piece about the project to a non-peer-reviewed undergraduate journal. I understand that I can't publish results in two journals. Would it be acceptable to write a commentary-style article reviewing the background of the research question and including the high-level results/takeaways from the project (citing the results a

Hello!

I know transfer admission at JHU is dependent on spots being available in the (up to 2) selected majors. My interests are somewhat interdisciplinary and could be fulfilled in multiple majors -- I am wondering whether it is possible to know which majors are generally over/under-enrolled so that my application does not get unnecessarily rejected if I pick a poor combination of majors.

Specifically, I am interested in the neurobiology & behavior, especially as it relates to mental health disorders. I am wondering which of these majors are typically over/under-enrolled: cognitive science, behavioral biology, and neuroscience?

I am also double-majoring in a Near Eastern Studies adja

Hi all,

I'm a junior neuroscience major, highly interested in pursuing the MD-PhD track. I'm looking to get some perspective for next semester. My schedule is currently too full, but I'm not sure what to drop to best set myself up for MD-PhD applications. My primary foci are global health and research, which I want to demonstrate through extracurriculars. Here are my current commitments for Spring '22:

Coursework (Orgo 2 (TBH I'm really shaky on Orgo 1), other 'easier' classes)

Co-President of global health club (5 hrs/week)

President/founder of global health advocacy club #2 (5 hrs/week)

Student government (5 hrs/week)

Research in neuro lab (10 hrs/week) -- not considering dropping

Hi everyone! I'm a sophomore hoping to apply MD-PhD when I graduate. I've been part of multiple labs: developmental linguistics (previous, no poster/pubs), virology (current, 1 poster), and clinical psychology (current). I'm majoring in neuroscience, and I really enjoy studying the brain, but psychiatry and neurology don't appeal to me as much as surgery or anesthesia. Also, while the clin psych lab is at a nearby med school, none of the labs I've been in have been headed by MDs or MD-PhDs.

(1) If I want to specialize in surgery (and presumably do PhD work in surgery) , does this research experience profile hurt my application? I.e., does the spread of research across multiple fields i

I had a 4.0 last semester, but I'm going to end up with three B's (~3.6) this semester, mostly due to COVID. Do I still have a chance if I continue with my extracurriculars and send an impassioned letter of continued interest, or are my chances nil?

Also, to what degree should I mention the challenges caused by COVID in my letter? I don't want to come across like I'm just griping about how awful everything was.

Thanks!

Hey! I'm a representative in the SGA, and I'm running a (short) survey of former Freshmen Connection students to better understand students' experiences in the program. It takes only a couple minutes to complete, and your results will help identify ways to improve the program for future classes of FC students.

So I’m taking CHEM131 next semester and have a couple questions.
Does the class use a textbook or only slides? Does anyone have an old syllabus and slides that they would be willing to share? Also, how is Guest’s teaching and grading? Does she curve, and does she use +/-? Any tips for success? Thanks!
