I can’t for the life of me figure out how to do a one timer in BAP. Other modes no problem.

Past threads say to hold down L2+back on right stick, then forward when the pass is on its way. Every time I do this, I double clutch the shot and it doesn’t count. What am I doing wrong?

I’ve also tried just R2 in good spots and holding down R stick forward. Same gather then shoot, not a true 1T.

I’ve played a couple games with relevant sliders bumped and set on rookie, doing nothing but going for 1Ts. None counted towards It’s Tricky.

What am I missing? Is there a way to lock your character in free skate so I can practice this?

Description of the match / things you want reviewed: Looking back through this game, the thing that stands out the most to me are the bad ults. We probably could have held on first or second if I just save it for extra life. Really bad discipline there but something I can easily fix. Don't really need to hear much about it as I already know they were really bad.

Skipping over that, I notice I really struggle pushing and holding open parts of the map, like end of 2nd and the end of 3rd. Any advice here? I ge

Just played two extremely frustrating games in a row. Both featured DPS who would. not. stop. feeding. I also cycle through most of my tank picks so I thought they'd be good to review.

Game 1: 1SJFXA
Maps: King's Row — 3-3 Draw
Heroes: Ball, DVa, 30 seconds of Ram

Without seeing the replay, here's what I remember. I felt like Ball worked really well on attack, though we took a long time to kill Rein on first point. He was good at landing pins on me but never killed me with them, so I started eating them to bait him out of position and then separating his backline from him.

Defense didn't go as well but we still stalled them out of time.

Map/Rank/Characters: Havana/D1/Ramattra and Ball

I've been trying to play more Ramattra lately, mainly because of all these long maps in the pool. I'm trying to use Nemesis form more proactively to bully and catch people who are too close. I used to hold it mainly for defense/escape and I think it made me too passive.

On first point, their Sigma did a really good job cycling cooldowns to keep me from bullying him as hard as I usually do in this matchup.

On third point attack, I definitely spent too long spamming Orisa. I figured if she wanted to take trades outside her max falloff then I'll just farm ult off her and occasionally clear the other

Circuit Royal - 0VGXAH - Gobsmacked (Console)5-4 winHeroes: Ramattra, Sigma, 30 seconds of Zarya

This was a weird and close game. However, it felt like a coalescence of a lot of common problems I encounter at my rank in my losses. I had a hard time stopping their Junkerqueen from running into my backline, my supports wouldn't switch off Zen/Mercy despite that, and one of my DPS died 20 (!) times in the match. We had a really bad stagger problem on our defense, as I recall. I'd love to learn how to be more proactive in solving those problems.

Heroes/About Me

I'm playing Ramattra and Sigma, two map-specific picks for me. I haven't really had these heroes reviewed and would love some

Map: Circuit Royal
Heroes: Wrecking Ball, Sigma, DVa
Player: Sohcahtoa, D5, Console

I feel like once I switched Wrecking Ball I carried this game pretty damn hard, yet we still lost. We had two fights on last point attack that were all but won, but couldn't make it happen.

The DPS gap felt significant, with our Mercy devoting way too much energy pocketing an ineffective player who couldn't kill a Cassidy running it down main and then forced Pharah into double hitscan on 3rd point. Our nanoblade was just terrible, as Genji didn't wait for me to engage and took a few ineffective swipes at the Rein.

Looking back at this one on 1.5x speed 3rd person, I can see a few things I need

I feel like I've been getting so much less value out of mines since OW2. I've tried placing them further forward than normal, further back, right on payload, and most of the time they get maybe one kill if anything.

I think it's because without the offtanks people are freer to move away from them and space is more open? Even ults that look like they're going to be super juicy are just not doing it. I often go for dropping mines and then coming back to boop people into them, but I feel like I can't pull that off consistently, like something about how I set it up isn't quite right.

For now, I've been thinking of them more like a Winston bubble to separate a couple people and split the other

For the first time, I spent time reviewing how my year in climbing went and what I want to do better for next year. My main takeaway is that I need to transition from "just climb" and "outdoors as much as possible" to something a bit more organized, with actual goals and a plan for how to achieve them. I've tried to section this off to make it skimmable, so you can just skip to the training plan if you don't need context.

I've read through RCTM and Logical Progression and I think, for now, the basic level I nonlinear plan Bechtel outlines in LP makes the most sense for me, for the following reasons:

  • I can and do climb outdoors whenever possible, there are several limit bouldering pro

I can't for the life of me climb my DPS. Maxed out at maybe 2700 in OW1, whereas I peaked Masters on tank and mid-diamond on support. I always told myself it was because I didn't grind it. Now in OW2 I find myself queuing DPS more consistently because of the long tank waits, and I'm falling with more time played, not climbing.

Y363SQ - Route 66, Ashe, Gobsmacked, CONSOLE

I'm posting this replay because it feels like a mood for most of my games at this rank. Any part of the map that's not where the cart travels is invisible to most of my team. People hold ults way too long and someone is dying constantly and underperforming (in this case my other DPS). Other games I have, like, a Rein w

Gobsmacked - 37V0MZ

I felt pretty good about my play on this one. On defense, it felt like we were going to hard hold first point and, even after we stopped them early third point instead, I thought we were just going to roll them on attack. Instead, we were held at the end of 1st and lost.

Still, it felt like Sym threw our defense and Zen threw our attack. I know it's not productive to blame my teammates, but what could I have done about that?

My takeaways from looking at this VOD:

  • I still have some off-tanky habits on DVa, especially in the poke/setup phase. I spend too much time contesting flanks and leave a lot of free space. Instead, I need to deal with the most immediate threat t

XACNY8 - Gobsmacked

While playing this game, my thinking was that if I could just hold down the core the Ball wouldn't be able to get enough done. I was trying to play a bit passive and defensive and then jump on opportunities when I saw them. Immediately after the game, I felt like we would have won if Ashe had waited for my engage to BOB, or if either DPS had opted for less diveable heroes, though I also felt pretty ineffective (and you can't control your teammates so best to treat them like bots).

My impressions watching this VOD a day later:

  • I don't know how to play this map/mode very well, my positioning in this game sucked. I KNOW I need to take high grounds more and take space mo

I'm trying to follow Alton Brown's recipe for kettle corn which looks fairly simple but I've managed to burn twice. I feel like the sugar is burning before the corn is finished popping. I don't cook caramels or anything like that, but I thought someone here would know what's going wrong.

First time I did turbinado sugar, so I thought maybe it had a lower melting point. Lowered the burner a little and used granulated, and it came out less burned but still decidedly bitter, also with more unpopped kernels. I follow the recipe pretty closely, though I use a thin stock pot instead of a mixing bowl. I wear oven mitts and shake thoroughly li

Shotgun changes seem to have made her more consistent vs small targets like Ana or Genji. Zarya dmg vs armor nerfed, Hog dmg nerfed. Slightly faster matrix recovery. Hitscan nerfs. I thought she needed a revert to matrix range, but she’s feeling REALLY good since the patch...

What do you think?

Diamond on PS4, btw.

I'm high diamond, but I play with some mid-gold friends. I'm generally on DVa, and he likes to play Sombra. In diamond, I'm used to just going "Sombra are you ready?" Then I yeet the bomb and the EMP goes off and we get some kills.

Doesn't seem to work so easily with my buddy. I'm gonna stick us in a custom game to practice, but is there an animation cancel or any other tricks that help? Or I count down "3, 2, 1" but throw it on 2? I asked a Sombra I was playing with and they said something about the de-cloaking animation...

I'm a diamond DVa player looking to improve, and I think I could be getting more value out of my bombs. I understand when and why to use it and combos, I'm just more looking to go map by map and practice good spots. Also, things like how to place a bomb perfectly over the payload so you can't hide from it.

So I guess what I'm looking for is bomb mechanics. Or how to improve my placement. I like Lvl 5 Pidgey's video but I'm looking for more depth.
