Nah I think you’re fine. People will have their stupid opinions. Enjoy

If you are symptom free; if no one you live with has symptoms; and you (or someone you live with) hasn't been traveling in the past 14 days...

Go for it. Keep distance, wash hands regularly. Don't touch your face. etc

mcflyyy02•

can’t hurt to wear some sort of mask/face covering too

Will a ball gag do?

Yay

Go for it. Being responsible is just fine.

It's fine as long as you're ready for the one guy who forgets to socially distance and keeps talk-spitting his theories on how covid-19 was created by Bill Gates and the other guy who brings his golden retriever that keeps trying to lick everyone's face.

What I'm saying is bring a sack of baseballs to throw at the people who don't behave properly.

Why do think this would be a problem?

5†

I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are on this. I'm seeing a lot of debate on other Calgary forums about this. I personally don't see an issue with it as long as no one has or has been in contact with anyone that has traveled or has symptoms.

I think it's fine. As I type there is a woman in a lawn chair outside of my neighbours house- they are drinking coffee and visiting, sidewalk to front door distance.

They're... they're meeting up!? CALL THE POLICE!

R/Calgary is a great community with a minority of loud, outraged, smug posters. Meet people, be happy while obviously being smart about it, like you’re saying.

2 meters distance is meant for walking past someone not really hanging around. If someone sneezes of coughs 2 meters away from you theres a good chance youll be breathing in droplets. Maybe walking together whilst mainting the distance is better so your moving around rather than in one place. Its so hard to say cus this thing spreads so easy.

4†
Any_Report•

The 2m rule is for standing, the longer and closer you are to someone the higher the risk of contamination.

If I hold my breath and walk an inch away from you, you would have zero risk of exposure if we don’t touch.

-13
ChefSuperFune•

Yeah but if i sneeze 20 meters ahead of you and the wind brings it to you... It spreads so easily.

7
Any_Report•

Your sneeze would have to aerosolize it for that to happen. It is contained in droplets that don’t stay suspended in air for very long.

Your local commissar would be the best one to ask and issue the requisite papers if approved.

The good thing is that they should be easily identified. Most likely have a high, shrill voice and sporting a distinctive haircut that demands the attendance of a manager

Wut?

Azanri•

To some people being asked to stay inside during a pandemic is equivalent to nazi Germany or Soviet Russia.

16
whiteout86•

And some have deluded themselves into thinking we are under a full lockdown and even walking outside causes COVID

7
Azanri•

Yep, there’s unreasonable people on both ends.

7
tcinyyc•

I think you’re mistaken that that’s what has people riled up. It’s the “who do I call on my neighbour” and “the dog park is packed...who do I call” posts that you see those comments, usually.

Most...I think MOST people are willing to follow the quidelines/ rules. It’s the ones that are practically begging for/ salivating at the thought of a military lockdown, yellling STFH at any and all people that even step on to their porch that those comments are directed at.

6
Azanri•

I see both but I think most reasonable people fall somewhere in the middle of “my neighbor took out the garbage so I called 911” and “this is literally imprisonments and how nazi Germany started”.

A lot of people just saying “just open the economy already”... as if it’s just a switch you flip to going back to normal.

Yup, all of a sudden you are a communist, facist, or a libtard if you support covid-19 preventative measures.

4
Azanri•

I dunno man having to stay inside more and watch Netflix and talk to your friends/family ok zoom is pretty much just as bad as the gulags.

5
Brock_Vond•

Sure.

My three neighbors and I each meet on our back decks at 4:30 and chat for an hour so so. We are at least 3-5 meters away from each other, so I'm thinking we are okay.

3
Workmask•

Yay.

Do it, be healthy, respect others, and enjoy a laugh with each other.

2
solution_6•

In my own case I say nay, not because I’m a communist, facist or (insert negative political affiliation), but because for me personally when I run into friends while I walk my dog in the neighborhood, I forget to keep a safe distance. You might not have that issue at all, but in my case I was so happy to see my friends and got caught up in conversation that I naturally just got closer and closer.

So yeah if you think you can be safe, by all means! I just suck, and I recognize I suck, so I’m gonna just avoid it all. Plus, my wife works in the hospital so there’s an added layer of healthy paranoia.

2†
petethecanuck•

Definitely Yay. Get out enjoy your friends, the sunshine. Keep adequate social distancing. Wearing a mask would be a good preventative measure too.

It's social/physical distancing.. not social isolation.

2
pytorchyyc•

as long as someone doesnt bring their dog and you pass the dog around to pet. (yes, I live across a park and see some groups doing this :)

2†

Yay!

UnionMoney•

If you need to find a loophole to your question, the answer is no.

1
MrGraveRisen•

Nope. Not worth it yet. Call each other, FaceTime, whatever.

Why don't we go down to the bay, we could eat some hay, make things out of clay, what do you say? I just may!

1
SurviveYourAdults•

Call 311 and ask.

-1†
Workmask•

"Hello? Yes Big Brother? Can I stand with my friends in a field of grass please?".

I think we can leave the city out of this one.

7
draivaden•

Nay. Use face time instead

-2†
Bushido_Plan•

Stay home citizen or you risk the police coming after you!
