I got two nice DAS units that use USB-C, and a PC, also with USB-C. The problem is, I want to keep the storage in a special quiet corner that is about 6m (20 feet, I guess?) away from the PC.

How do I connect the two to the PC so the data connection is fast and reliable? I can afford expensive cables or hubs or extenders etc. -- just need to know what to do.

I need a storage for about 200 TB of videos, music, etc. Does not need to be one setup, but I'd like to keep things to minimum. I was thinking 2 x Asustor Flashstor 12 Pro Gen1 or Gen2, or 3 x Terramaster F8 SSD Plus.

Now, I know near to nothing about NAS, so far I have simply used a lot of 4-18 TB WD HDDs. But I want a tighter, quieter solution, where I don't need to juggle (too) many discs, etc. To be clear, I am not looking for cloud storage or HDDs, I want an SSD setup. Yes, I know it's expensive af.

For me, all I need is for the NAS to function as a big ass disc connected to my PC. I don't need any apps or network/server functionality etc. Imagine the simplest case possible, like a 10

I found this comment under a YT video, and I am now curious too. Here's the full comment with some light edits for clarity:

"I have a movie that I swear it is the best cosmic horror movie of all time. I watched it when I was a child but can’t seem to remember what the name is. It foretakes place with a young couple in their 20s that sets out and packs their stuff to drive across country I think. They where traveling and at some point as they're driving past the tree like roads they end up on an old abandoned road that set them to park and walk amongst it due to their curiosity. This gives like a Spirited Away kinda feel like when the little girl goes with her parents.

Anyway, the couple pa

Ah, the good old times when this entire subreddit shit on TD S2 until someone figured out the key to it and suddenly it wasn't that bad anymore (it never was).

I am pretty disgusted with the current climate here, though.

I liked the season, and while it just does not have the same weight as Pizzalatto's writing (yes, even including S3, that's so far up its own ass it becomes a flat circle), it's a good addition to the mythos.

I can also answer most, maybe even all questions and address most, maybe even all "plot holes" that really aren't plot holes. As an example, you can check [this po

Most people here know about the freeze frame or slow motion "secrets" of Aquila. But I see less talk about the episode's message or the inspirations behind the original story (although most things I found, I did find on Reddit).

If you're like me and consider Aquila one of the best, if not the best episode of LD+R, you might find this thing I wrote about all of the above intreesting:

Inside, you'll find all the secrets listed, plus my two interpretations of the story, and a comparison between the original story and a certain old one from Normad Spinrad.

I remember a friend recommended me a new horror movie a few years ago (pre-2018), claiming that while not the best, it has a fairly original idea. I watched it, loved it, but for the life of me cannot find it or recall the details.

Sadly, I don't have much to go on. It was well done, no found footage or a festival only art film or anything, just a "regular" horror movie from someone(s) who have done horror before. I think it took place in a remote location, a house or a farm. However odd that sounds, I think it involved bad thing happening to souls in that place, and maybe - a big maybe - some sort of time loop.

That's it. Again, the idea felt relatively fresh. Not a typical ghost story. S

My hypothesis is that Duke is the manifestation of Rose's powers. Here is why:

VISUAL IDENTIFICATION

  • One fat puffy cheeks babyface. Sleeps a lot. Eats a lot. Who am I describing? Baby Rose or Duke? Both, of course.

  • Duke's belly button is exposed for us to admire. The important part is that it looks more like a healed wound than the belly button of an adult, even as obese as Duke. Baby Rose is six months old... P.S. The sausage strings might symbolize the umbilical cord.

  • Rose's sweater has two buttons. Duke's sweater has two identical buttons.

THE NAME

SR = Spare Rations

In the second column you can roll four perks that will offer the same extra Range boost but with different bonuses:

  • RR (extra Stability)
  • HCR (extra flinch)
  • Light Mag (extra Reload speed)
  • APR (they pass through enemies/shields)

Light Mag is whatever, the gun already has a decent reload speed even without the HC gloves. APR are fine for PVE, but basically meaningless for PVP.

So it all comes down to RR vs HCR.

I did some blind tests with friends and they were always able to identify whether they were shot with HCR or non-HCR bullets BUT they both said that the extra flinch was super weak. It's definitely not Ace-like power, at least not on 150s/SR.

RR offer not

(DISCLAIMER: Not fired a shotgun 100 times, etc. Testing good enough for my own purpose, felt it's still worth sharing even if not 100% science).

Yesterday someone posted about the Effective Range of shotguns. Awesome work but we wanted to know what shotguns are the best when it comes to the actual OHK range -- and so we ran a couple of tests.

We tried to be thorough:

  • Always shot from "thin 9m", i.e. when right when DARCI goes to 9m from 8m when slowly moving away from the opponent.

  • We tried to make sure that the person we're shooting at is in the same position/stance.

Everyone talks about recoil (mainly the camera kick) and bloom ruining D2 on the controller (both PC and console) but it was all mostly just, well, talk.

So I took a friend to a private game and tested the Spare Rations on him. A few notes:

  • Tests done with a well rolled SR: Full Bore, Ricochet, Range MW (66 Range, in reality > 70 Range thanks to Ricochet's hidden range boost). I farmed literally dozens of hours for it.

  • PC, 120 fps, Elite controller.

  • We're both on the same ISP. My connection 1 GBit, his 250 MBit, our pings are 7ms. Not that it matters if we lagged, he was stationary all the time, but still, for the record: a perfect connection.

I get it. It's all about conveying that power through excessive, blinding special effects. But sometimes too much is too much, and when you can even lose track of a boss, a slight QoL update might be needed.

And in PVP? Hahahaha... Ha... cries

Good luck trying to zap that Spectral bouncing around.

The solution could be so simple. The game already has a target highlighting feature, be it on a scope or Exotic armor piece. Like this red outline on an enemy.

I disagree with most posts complaining about the exposition or not enough gore and murder but I try to explain myself elsewhere. I did, however, have a certain issue with the season, too.

With the possible exception of the third episode, I felt like Daniel Sackheim's episodes lacked that certain magic that Cary Joji Fukunaga, Jeremy Saulnier, and even Nic Pizzolatto himself brought to the series.

It's weird because fragments of what he has done were amazing. And I do respect the man and his work on many, many great TV series. However, I feel like at times the last few episodes lacked the ethereal, almost oneiric quality we've tasted before. Like what's he's done was more the work of a grea
