Pre-licensed clinician working as a 1099 with a supervisor in a state with strict ABC laws. They are making me do group supervision, but I am a 1099 provider and know that according to the laws, they can't make me. I don't even need it for licensure. But the owner is making it seem like I ~have~ to and I don't want to upset them.

What does it look like to report a company for this? Would it even be worth it? What are your experiences?

I hate that people boil lesbianism down to liking vagina, or says that if you don't like doing x, y, z to a vagina then you're not a lesbian. I am very gay. Big lover of women. Never have had interest in men ever. Been out of the closet for two decades and have been with many women. But sex is gross to me. The fluids are gross. The senses. I like how it feels, and I love topping my partner, but if I ~see~ the fluids on my fingers, or think about them in my mouth, I gag. I have a LOT of sensory issues related to ~fluids~ and ~substances~ and ~smells~ so sex is just kinda gross even though it feels good. I hate it! And I hate that I feel invalid because I'm not obsessed with vagina!

This is tough, but I need to get it out there for some support. I am an independent contractor for this private practice. They only let you bill for 60 minute sessions. I have brought up concerns regarding this as sometimes sessions are shorter than 60 (53) minutes for various reasons, such as a client getting sick, a client being late, a client needing to leave early, etc. They say that sessions HAVE to be 60 minutes, "we don't do anything less than an hour" and billing for 45 minutes can be "complicated" on their end (ridiculous, as I have had various jobs where we have billed for 30, 45, 60, etc with no problem, WHICH I HAVE BROUGHT UP). So I am stuck with the choice of not billing (not b

Boss doesn't want to reimburse me for my time.

Rant - No advice wanted :snoo_shrug:

Our boss wants us to see our clients for an hour. If it's under 53 minutes for WHATEVER reason - technology issue, client has to leave early, clinician gets sick, etc - then we can't bill for it, DESPITE there being CPT codes for 30 minutes and 45 minutes that I have used time and time again at other work places. This is fucking ridiculous!?

Will I be able to parent w/ my OCD?

I need support - advice welcome

One aspect of my OCD (there are many lol) involves intrusive thoughts of "gross" things going in my mouth. It's worsened when the "gross" thing has a smell or if the thing has a "gross" smell (smells get me regardless of OCD lol) or appearance or texture. TW warning, maybe, but like wet food at the bottom of a sink so I don't do dishes. Leftover food in the fridge and disposing of it (the smell gets me here, and the texture). I can only cook chicken if I have on several pairs of gloves and a face mask. I'll sometimes have to feed my cats for the night their wet food and it getting on my hands is enough to send me into a panic attack. That kind of stuff.

My partner asked me how I am suppose

One of my clients has been really inconsistent. I keep them open because I need the money-- even though it's not much with them being inconsistent. They no-show sessions, I offer them re-schedules to make money (no no-show fee), and they don't show up. I don't get the chance to tell them important information like I'll be out of office for the week since they are so inconsistent. This means I can't respond to their texts as quickly (their email "doesn't work" (I use non-personal number) which means they don't get the automated message). They'll text me and I won't respond because I am busy doing whatever it is I took the week off for, or because I'm putting attention towards clients who are

I'm a therapist and I work with people who have "typical" PTSD, resulting from things such as car accidents, traumatic losses, etc, and there is a small part of me that is jealous of these people (good ole countertransference but I thankfully don't let it affect my work). What do you mean every aspect of your life isn't permanently altered because of the severe ongoing childhood trauma you experienced? What do you mean it is "easier" to treat your trauma because of the nature of it compared to mine? This isn't to compare traumas-- I hope I don't come across this way!!!-- and of course it's not as simple as this, but today I am grieving the life I could be having if I wasn't abused. I am feel

I FEEL SO HELPLESS!!!!!!!

Support :snoo_tableflip:

I won't go into too much detail but I have a client who I work with who is physically disabled. They need support right now due to not having any family or friends in the state or any money to pay for a caretaker, and the state is unable to give them immediate services at the moment so they are stuck. They need help with grocery shopping and other tasks they cannot due to their current state. Obviously, this is a stressor for them and we talk about it and while they like having somebody to talk to, it doesn't help their problem of needing somebody to help them do tasks around the house. I wish I could just go to their house and help them. They live like 10 minutes from me. That's what they n

My mom has COPD and is on supplemental oxygen due to decreased lung function. She's avoided COVID for this long because she doesn't leave her house, and has been lucky when my siblings have had COVID around her in the past but this time she hasn't been so lucky and tested positive this morning. Symptoms include chills, weakness in body, congestion, loss of smell/taste, etc.

Unfortunately, due to one of her medications, she can't take Paxlovid. They are having her do a Remdesivir transfusion this week.

I've read good things about Remdesivir but I'm terrified. I feel like I can't breathe thinking about her having Covid. When she gets pneumonia, she is hospitalized every time. I don't know.

Have been with my partner for 6 years now. I love her to death! One thing she does that triggers me beyond belief for many reasons is complaining when I ask her to do anything.

"Can you throw this away?" "Ughhhh (genuinely annoyed tone)" does it

"Can you do x for me" "Oh my god (same tone)" does it

I express to her why I don't like it when she complains about doing anything. She doesn't see an issue with it. She says, "Of course I don't want to throw your trash away. I don't WANT to go out of my way. But I do it anyway because we are in a relationship and I love you and I'd do anything for you."

And I just... The whole situation reminds me of my childhood but that's too much t

My cat (~2 Calico) and my other cat (~1.5 Diluted Tortie) are always chasing each other and playing with each other. My Tortie came from the streets and is a little rough with play (think pro wrestler lol), and my Calico will meow like crazy as if they're fighting sometimes. I, of course, break it up but then my Calico immediately goes back to playing with her sister??? And then the cycle repeats over and over lol. She initiates a lot of the play too.

Is this normal? Is my Calico a drama queen??? Anything I should do??

I'm one of those people whose anxiety is pretty evident even if I'm not consciously aware of it. Red face, sweating, etc. I was meeting with a new client yesterday and was experiencing those things and instead of just ignoring it, THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION, I said, "Sorry, sometimes x, y, z happens when I'm nervous. Sometimes I'm nervous to meet new clients." Like why did I say that!!!? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Was talking to a client today. They said something and I responded, going into a lot of detail and psychoeducation about how their behavior was negatively impacting them and then they were like "I think you misunderstood me" and it turns out the behavior wasn't even what I thought it was lol

I was just like 🤦🏻‍♀️ oops!

Some details change to protect privacy, of course. Child under 10, bio mom did hard drugs during pregnancy, left child withdrawing after birth. Child has ADHD, possibly autism (waiting for neuropsych). Behaviors include: emotional dysregulation, poor impulse control, defiance towards current caregivers (relatives who have been there since birth, they're a great caregiver), lying, stealing, manipulating, anxiety, recent intrusive thoughts, etc. Previous physical aggression when dysregulated towards caregivers. Poor w/ boundaries. Caregivers are burnt out. At school, child is fine for most part.

I've been working with this child for 3 years now and have tried absolutely everything I can. I h
