So I recently discovered a little trick to help all you trap heads spice up your 808 subs a little bit. Was listening closely to some pro tracks, most notably RL Grime's Love Sosa remix and noticed some subtle pitch bend on the sub.

Set yourself up with your main sub bass as you normally would (I use Massive). Now raise the sub's oscillator pitch modulation box (the small box below the main pitch box) to 3.00. Hook the pitch modulation box to an envelope. Now adjust the envelope with the shortest attack setting (keep the attack level all the way up). Then lower the decay level to 0. Now play with the decay length so that you can hear a slight pitch bend going down to the root pitch of w

Hi everyone,

With the LFOtool and Volumeshaper plugins you can set the volume/ducking envelopes to be triggered by MIDI notes.

Is there any way to achieve this in Gross Beat, as opposed to using the standard 4 on the floor sidechain preset? It ain't immediately apparent to me and I've done some searching but to no avail :(

Cheers!

Sup everyone! Quick EQ slopes discussion.

Kick and a sub have some clashing frequencies, you EQ out the really low end of the kick to make breathing room for the sub. Common knowledge. Then you might do some side chaining to duck the sub if necessary.

However, I feel like (from what I've seen) that there's not much talk about the types of slopes used in low end EQ. I generally use steep (24, sometimes 36db/octave) slopes in high passing the kick to make sure there's almost nothing encroaching into the sub's territory. Yields pretty decent results in my opinion.

Just wanted to see what others think about low end EQ slopes. Do you tend to use gentle slopes, allowing a little bit of ble

So there's this particular effect that I'm trying to achieve. I have a wobble bass that is programmed in a triplet pattern over 4 bars. I'm hi-pass filtering it up so it becomes thinner and thinner towards the end of the 4 bar section. Here's what I can't figure out how to do:

As the wobble bass filters up over the 4 bars, I also want to pan each individual wobble so that each following wobble pans further and further to its respective side. This is kind of hard to explain so I will attempt to show it this way:

Wobble 1 (5% left), Wobble 2 (5% right), Wobble 3 (10% left), Wobble 4 (10% right), Wobble 5 (15% left), Wobble 6 (15% right), Wobble 7 (20% left), Wobble 8 (20% right), so on and s

Hi everyone,

I have no idea whether this is a common technique so if it is, my apologies.

I realised a while ago that I wasn't being exactly as objective as possible with my A/B comparisons. Here's how to fix that (to an extent, although a bit more on this later).

So you come across a minor adjustment that you've made (a small EQ cut or boost, a little reverb, a tiny bit of compression, subtle distortion, etc) and you want to know whether it's actually making a noticeable difference to your mix.

What I used to do, and I assume a fair few people do, was close my eyes (ie use your ears) and flip between the comparisons using the A/B switch, activate/deactivate button, parameter on/off or w
