So I took in some advice about my first draft of my story and tried to approach it differently. Let me know what you think of the new version. I don't know where I'm going with it and why I've bothered to start a new story because there's only been one story on my mind. This was a writing prompt someone gave me and I'm trying to do some world-building with it which has proven to be hard. I appreciate the feedback though.
Hi, I'm a bit new here but I'm looking for some constructive criticism on a new story I'm writing. I'm also pretty new at world building and wanted to see what people think about how engaging the first page is and if they would read further or provide any advice on how to make it more engaging if it's not.
So this is the first chapter of a story that I'm writing. Don't know if it's going to be a short story or an actual novel but let me know what you think based off of knowing nothing to start. I think the main critique I'm looking for is does it keep you reading more, is it entertaining throughout, where do you think I'm going with this and also yea, I want to know the nitty gritty stuff like grammar and all that stuff. I am trying a new tense so I apologize if it's inconsistent throughout.
Ho'kay. So I ended up just removing my previous chapter two and making a new one that will tie in with my chapter one. I'm hoping it's more appealing and keeps the reader interested. I'm not going to share more information about what I intended. I want you guys to figure that out but I do want to point out that this is another character's perspective from the first chapter and the book will consist of 4 main characters each having their own chapter, alternating, and all four will eventually interact with each other at some point.
Let me know what you guys think of it and hope you guys like it!
So this is the second chapter of my story. This is a separate character leading a separate life. Main character lives with her single mom in a bad part of town. So later on, she's going to realize that she's more than human. Her life is pretty much fake and when she meets the rest of the characters, things go haywire. But for now, I was setting the tone as to who she is, what role she plays.
Any feedback helps! Also would like to know if still holds people's interests. I know it has nothing to do with magic powers or anything and pretty much reads like a real life story. Should I keep it this way or should I change it so that she realizes somethings wrong from the get-go? I have the story w
So I posted a section of the same story and decided to come up with a better first chapter because the one that I currently have kind of sucks. lol Anywho, so this story is fantasy and its in the perspective of about 4 or 5 people (I forget) and so each one has a story to tell until eventually they come together and fight the big bad evil (still in the works on what it is). So for now, chapter one is about the loss of a friend of theirs and you can assume everyone has abilities in this story (except for Kyle).
Please rip this chapter to shreds. I want to know if it's appealing and makes you want to read more. What can I improve on? Any questions about anything? Any places where you're confu
