I've come to notice that I prefer the sound of my audio interface (UA Apollo 8p) with the output volume turned all the way up. To compensate for this, I'll lower the volume of my DAW or iTunes with their respective master faders.

When listening this way, I notice improved dynamic range, but theory should suggest the opposite.

In theory, turning down a digital signal is equivalent to reducing the precision of a floating-point value - i.e. going from 32 bits to something lower, introducing rounding errors.

However, I still prefer the sound of this.

Am I crazy here, or is there something I'm missing? And what approaches to playback volume do you prefer when monitoring?

I LOVE the smooth scrolling the Logitech MX Master has on macOS - if you've never tried it, the free-spinning wheel scrolls very finely and responsive, from 1px increments to inertial scrolling when you flick the wheel. I don't know how they pulled it off in software, but it's miles ahead of how the free-spinning scroll wheel in the G502 works.

Yes, it spins freely, but it just reports the same "scroll down" mouse command to the computer instead of the more finely grained scrolling on the MX Master.

It's really too bad this isn't supported on this mouse. The MX Master has horrible DPI, polling rate and latency compared to a gaming mouse - I really hoped I had found something that was the b

lately i've really been into the groove of 100bpm tracks, such a great bounce to them. you can have pretty complex rhythms without stuff becoming undanceable. however, i have a hard time finding more than a couple of tracks.

my favourite track in this style right now is mickey pearce - one, to give an example.

would love any recommendations for similar tracks, artists and labels.

i've always loved ambient music whenever i've heard it but never got around to seeking it out. i'm a complete novice when it comes to the scene, but after having PAN's "mono no aware" compilation on repeat i'd like to find more music in the same vein.

recommendations for dj's, podcasts, labels, radio shows, etc. would be gladly appreciated!! <3
