The Unemployment Post for 4/22/20
Happy Earthday Earthlings. It's also Wednesday, which means.....there might be a few more people manning the phones at the unemployment office.... GET EXCITED!
Okay, just posting this as a daily thread, like usual. I really don't know much, u/pennypedro is our expert at the ESD office helping ya'll - I just try and compile an FAQ. TAG HER NAME if you would like her help!
FIRST: Yes, claims for the week ending April 18th is messy. Still not sure what's going on with mine. Will get an update on that ASAP.
Self-Employed: You can ONLY USE EARNINGS FROM 2019. (I know, I'm really sorry, this was part of the CARES Act and you can blame your local rep, let me know if you want info on how to contact them**.)** Jump down to this comment to commiserate in the process. Will try to answer other questions in that "thread".
A few other things:
- Pending Claims - did you check pending issues? These could be; stating you are not available for work, saying you're in school (yes, that will trigger an issue regardless) but especially if you click not willing to drop your classes, the reason you stated for not having work (did you quit, or was there a lack of hours?....or other things I'll add here later.
- Make yourself as available to work as possible, even if you can't right this second.
- You do NOT have to look for work. Check "no".
- How long does adjudication take? A few hours to weeks. I'll try to get a better answer on this.
- Your weekly payment AND $600 bonus for THIS WEEK will be deposited this week, hopefully by Friday. - Penny in a comment here. (HOWEVER: A note from u/PlansAndHeadbands - I keep having to file this over, and over. Try using the phone if you're not seeing it "stick" in your weekly claims! You're note alone if you have this problem
- THE PAST TWO WEEKS ALSO HAVE $600 BONUSES THAT WILL BE DEPOSITED THIS WEEK SO GET OUT YOUR FANCY PANTS FOR SOME TAKEOUT FOOD.
