Also...stopping power does not technically exist. There is velocity, and how hare the bullet hits. pounds per square inch and all that mathematical stuff. A .45acp is a very slow bullet compared to the .38, even out of a short barrel.

a 38 is actually slower than a .45 acp if you're referring to a .38 special. If you're referring to a .357 magnum then yes it is faster than a .45 acp provided that you aren't pushing it out of a <2" barrel

You could try firing a cannon ball out of a cannon with the gunpowder that is contained in a 9mm cartridge. It is bigger, yes, but doesn't have enough power to do anything.
Therefore, the power of the bullet isn't about the size of the slug, but the amount of propellant, and the speed in combination with the size of the slug.

Also, a blast of compressed gas can redirect RPG shells in whatever direction you desire. Has same effect on arrows, too. Did I mention that a blast of air can also change the damage characteristics of enemy pipe bombs? How about a crossbow that heals. Did you forget about an icicle that never melts (and prevents you from burning)?
