Hi All,

Thank you for the helpful responses I always get here.

Today's question. Time Clocks. I have a client that want's preferably a physical time clock in his office, that he can view general data (clock in, clock out, hours, etc) from an app or webpage on his phone, and he want's it to integrate over into QB.

I've found a few decent looking vendors that do the app and QB integration he wants. But no one that does a physical clock in device also. Anyone have any experience with a vendor that does this and that they would recommend?

Appreciate it, thank you!

Quick question. Does anyone know of a fortinet switch that fits all these requirements?

24-Port FPOE

Dimensions less than W13",D9",H1.5"

It has to go in an existing wall access box. Id rather not use a generic brand device but I've had no luck finding a Fortinet or other quality brand switch that will fit in those dimensions. Might could get away with 16 port if that would make a difference.

Had an interesting one brought to me today.

My boss (reasonably) want's to see if there's any way to force a logout of all users every say 24 hours in our tenant unless they're logged in from a trusted IP. We have a few techs that occasionally forget to login using a private browser at client sites and while it hasn't caused issues yet. It easily could.

So beyond training (the ultimate solution) is there any way to accomplish this? Doesn't seem unreasonable but I've had no luck googling or finding anything in the Admin portals.

Lessons Learned!

Previous Post Below.

I promised several in my previous post that we would release names as soon as we finished the investigation and discussion with Vendors X and Z so here it is.

After MANY meetings with Vendor X – Acronis (A) (Vendor Z – Connectwise) we’ve discovered the issue and here is what has happened since.

I made a few contacts to higher ranking figures at ConnectWise who to their credit were eager to get me in contact with

Anyone else after the latest updates getting complaints of call ring tone changing or voice issues?? Voice we haven't isolated enough to claim its 3CX itself. But the Ringtone changing is happening across multiple sites/PBXs and I've confirmed with friendly competitors they're seeing the exact same thing.

Rebooting always seems to bring back the normal ring tone but trying to figure out why this is happening. There have been 0 config changes and it happens seemingly at random. Also, doesn't hit the entire system just random extensions.

Alright, I'm sure I'm missing something. I have a client who does architectural design and is overwhelmed with new business right now.

He really wants essentially a PSA tool, he wants to be able to track projects, send templated email updates, maybe even have a client portal that all comes out of one program.

Right now he's struggling to keep projects straight, keep dates and appointments straight, details of projects straight etc. All stuff that can be tracked managed in projects.

He also subcontracts drafting occasionally and needs to be able to easily cloud share data between himself the subcontractor(s). Ive been between Axcient 360 Sync and OneDrive for this. He's currently trying t

M365 Migration

Business Operations

Hi All

I'm looking at doing a lot more M365 Migrations, in the past we've always just used Sherweb and allowed them to perform the migration. But due to getting better pricing elsewhere and the time it takes to get Sherweb to finish a migration sometimes we're looking to be moving away to solely Pax8. Which means I (or my team) will be handling all migrations from now on.

For those with experience doing these migrations, is it really worth the $15/mailbox pricetag for something like BitTitan MigrationWiz? Does it make it that much easier?

In most cases they are already using Outlook so downloading their mailbox is not incredibly hard but can be time consuming and sometimes disruptive to t

Managing Hardware Tools?

Business Operations

As the title suggests..

For those of you that do larger hardware projects, wiring, etc alongside MSP work.

We keep a few standard boxes with tools for our teams, how do you handle inventory and tracking of these tools? That way you can track down where tools are/who had them last if you are needing tools and cant find them. Or if tools appear to be missing/lost can figure out who used them last and at what site. Etc.

We debated doing a "room" in O365 that gets scheduled out but that doesn't seem intuitive or a good long term solution.

Basically we want to be able to have an "asset" e.g ToolBox 1, ToolBox 2, ToolBox 3 or whatever. Have a list of all tools in each box. Then be able to sche

Im finally breaking down and coming here.

I've got a 3CX behind a SonicWall (not managed by me, but was finally given access to it today).

No one using apps or wifi phones locally (wifi and LAN are on different subnets) can connect to the system. I believe it's getting double NATed. The guy who manages the SonicWall tried a few fixes to no avail. Wondering if there's some guidance here before I dive into it. I'm not a SonicWall expert so going to be working on it with one of our techs who's better with SonicWalls. Just want a jumping off point.

Any help would be much appreciated! TIA

Hello again Community,

TLDR: what's your experience with IT Boost

Were in the process of moving away from PassPortal. Primarily because of documentation and the system is just slow. Password management is fine, but takes forever to get to anything if you're logged out.

Originally weve been looking at Confluence and Myki as a combo to replace it and we're happy with the outlook on that.

My boss wants to do our due diligence though and he wants to check out IT Boost. What are the pros and cons of it as well as your experiences? I've done some searching and havent been able to dig up to much. Did see some issues with security breaches over the last 2 years not sure if theyve addressed that?

For those of you who are Documentation/Password Guru's...

We're currently utilizing PassPortal for both. We're relatively happy with it but think things could be better.

We're thinking of moving to SharePoint for our KB that way we can drop in videos of what's being explained and manage it ourselves easier integrate our own stuff etc. Feel free to point out flaws or reasons to use IT Glue or PassPortal over this.

*IF* we do this we'd likely look at moving away from PassPortal for Password management as well. Was thinking looking at Myki again? Thoughts from those using it? Other option would be BitWarden.

TIA

Looking for some advice or direction on where to find some good advice.

We do lots of hardware work running low voltage etc for projects but its commonly less than 10 runs unless its cameras.

Were now re running all new cable for one of our clients and adding some new runs (existing cable is literally 2 decades old and a lot is falling apart etc).

What are your fun tools, tips, and tricks that make your life easier when doing this? Or any subreddits you know of I can check out for advice. I'm confident we can do the job and to it cleanly.

But I'm all for better efficiency, cleaner work, better work etc. Already planning on buying a cable comb and a fish rod rather than tape.

I've got a client where SOME not all extensions via the 3CX Mobile app will provision but never show as being online on the extension screen. They can call and receive calls perfectly but as far as any presence or BLFs are concerned they're disconnected.

I've found no rhyme or reason why so far. Have any of you run into this issue before by any chance?

This sometimes happens with hardphones too. They'll work fine but BLFs will act as if it isn't available or is disconnected.

We're looking at ProofPoint and Mimecast internally and possibly to add externally.

What are the pros and cons outside of price difference of these two that you've experienced?

Thanks!
