Ep 35: Qi Min's men storm the house where Changning, Yu Qianqian, and Bao'er are staying. They are defeated, but manage to steal Yu Qianqian.
Kind of feel like they should have had a secret hiding area. They had time to build one
She is slashed across the back while defending her son. Qi Min starts killing his way through doctors until she's saved. No, it was a ruse! They are all alive. Anyway, Qi Min still wants to kill Yu Bao'er, but he promises that after he murders his first son and takes the throne, he'll give Yu Qianqian as many children as she wants (so romantic!)
Princess Qi Shu goes to Fan Changyu's empty mansion (why has she not brought Changning and the Zhaos to live with her?) to give her gifts.
Song Yan (Fan Changyu's fiance from way back) is not doing well in the capital. He's assigned to teach the new female general etiquette. Obviously this does not go well. On his way out he runs into Xie Zheng and insults him, which freaks out his boss (?). He eventually faints.
Ah, Xie Zheng was seen on purpose I guess? I wondered why he was walking around as the marquis. He takes Fan Changyu on a date and says that he's not the jade being pursued, it's her. It's very romantic. (very confused as to what his actual plan is)
Qi Min is going to use Xie Zheng's return to bring in his troops. Xie Zheng tells Fan Changyu that Yu Qianqian was captured by Qi Min, but she should be safe for now because Qi Min is devoted to her. Qi Sheng, the emperor, wants to make Fan Changyu a concubine...
Fan Changyu goes to see Qi Sheng and she asks for female households to be recognized under law (this would have prevented her from having to marry to inherit way back at the beginning). He wants to make her a royal consort but after trying to dissuade him, she finally just reveals whom she is married to:

Qi Sheng freaks out and asks her not to reveal his offer.
We get to see Tutor Tao again but honestly I watched this scene twice and I don't think they said anything important except that Xie Zheng and his uncle are going to meet soon and the court sucks, which I feel like we already knew? Nice to see him though.
Qi Shu's mother warns her to stay out of politics. The princess has discovered a maid who can be a witness against Wei Yan of the events 17 years ago, but her mother warns her he's too powerful to oppose.
Qi Sheng is worried about everything, he summons Minister Li who tells him about the maid Qi Shu found in the Cold Palace...
It looks like the remaining 5 episodes will drop tomorrow. As I have a job, the last recap will probably be out in the evening. This will also be the last show I recap for a while as I'm going back to doing in-person work for the next few months. I'm sure I'll still be around Reddit and Tumblr. Probably watching Love Beyond the Grave next

Yet her heart was still pounding, a mix of embarrassment and an indescribable joy enveloping her. Perhaps it was because she had been too slow in matters of the heart, or because she had been preoccupied with too many thoughts before. Only after this night of opening up completely did she realize that liking Xie Zheng seemed to be an extremely joyful thing. Thinking of him made her want to smile for no reason.
