DISCLAIMER
A lot of you probably know about the weekly hero discussion, but that often ends up in a meta discussion (whether or not the hero needs buffs, etc) or a meme war than actual tips to play, itemize and build the hero.
This is what I'd like to do. Please discuss any notes I made and possible improvements while also giving tips of your own if you have them.
The roles, skill builds and item builds, as well as a lot of the notes are my opinion on matters and should not be seen as a must do or don't. Also remember that almost every single build or role is situationally possible.
A lot of the tips on heroes were also mentioned in tsunami's amazing hero tips series he did over the last couple of years.
Dazzle
Notes:
- Best friend: Himself. All of dazzles spells are physical damage and his ult reduces armor
- Poison touch damage is not reduced by damage block
- Level 4 Poison touch has a stun at the end
- Level 4 poison touch with the lvl 25 talent can permastun AND fully stacks. Meaning if you cast one for 7 seconds in a row on the same hero you'll be dealing ~300 physical damage per second to a permastunned unit by the time you cast the 7th one.
- Wait with burst heal until shallow grave is about to end (ring drops down)
- Weave priority: Weave the team that is pushing (tower hits are important), teamfights --> weave early on as many as possible
- It's okay to use weave to scout out the rosh pit
- You can shallow grave illusion (allowing fun mind games and more)
- Shallow grave --> TP after they used all their stuns guarantees your escape (unless vs Axe)
- Both shadow wave and weave (and shallow grave) go fully through BKB
- Versus: Don't run through a creep wave while diving for dazzle
- Versus: Last hit on the edge of the creep wave, not in the middle
- Versus: Pay attention to poison touch debuff if you want to TP out. Do not TP if it's past half duration (or at least not significantly).
- The longer the teamfight goes, the stronger the team with dazzle is because of weave.
- Friends: Weaver, Naga, TA (armor reduction), Jugger (slow + spin), WD (physical damage ult), Bristle (+armor), PA, Huskar (grave + small heals), Brood (shadow wave)
- Counters: Axe (ult goes through grave), Eul's, SD, OD (shallow grave), AA (ult)
- Good versus: LC, Slark (grave focussed hero), Bristle, WK, Centaur, Lifestealer, Abaddon (-armor is great vs low armor STR heroes)
Role: support, (solo laner)
Item build: (Wand, Urn, arcanes,) Medallion, (Solar crest, aghs, Aether lens, Ghost, Glimmer, Force)
Skill build: Very, very volatile. An aggressive Dazzle can max poison touch, A tri lane Dazzle or one laning with illusions/summons can max shadow wave. Anything in between with grave is also possible. Most situations require you to max the heal though.
