Ragnarok Mobile Archer/Hunter/Sniper Comprehensive Guide
NOTE: This was originally posted on my defunct blog, reposting it here since it's relevant again.
Snipers are the best ranged DPS in the game. This guide will help you unlock your character's full potential. This is a comprehensive guide so be prepared to read a LOT.
Stat explanations:
STR - Strength is useless for Snipers. Avoid putting points here.
AGI - Agility gives +1% aspd and +1 flee per point. This is the second most important stat for snipers.
VIT - Vitality increases defense and increases max HP. This is a good stat for PvP, not so much for PvE. You can leave this at 0 if you're focusing on levelling.
INT - Intelligence increases MATK, Max SP, Falcon Damage and Trap Damage. This is the primary damage stat for Blitzers and Trappers.
DEX - Dexterity increases hit and bow damage. This is also a secondary stat for Falcon and Trap damage but is not as efficient as INT. This is the primary damage stat for auto attack based builds.
LUK - Luck increases critical rate, critical defense, and Auto Blitz rate. It also increases PATK very slightly. This is important for both blitzers and DPS builds.
The 3 sniper builds.
There are 3 major builds for snipers. These are the DPS, Blitzers and Trapper Builds. Each type has their own strengths and weaknesses and I'll discuss them in detail here.
The DPS (damage per second) aka ADL (Agi/Dex/Luk) Build or AD (Agi/Dex). This build primarily focuses on using the normal attack to deal damage. They are great at exploiting elemental weakness via element converters or elemental arrows. They can pierce high defense with crits but it's power is only realized when you get really expensive key equipment. This build has the biggest damage potential out of the three because it's strength is strongly reliant on equipment and as the game progresses, bigger and better items are released. However, those equipment are also progressively going to get more expensive. With great power comes great price tags.
The Blitzer build aka AIL (Agi/Int/Luk) focuses on getting the falcon to do the most damage. The falcon will always do neutral damage and ignores defense so it will always deal the exact same damage to enemies regardless of size or element (except for ghost). Blitzer's strength comes from stats and has only one key piece of equipment so they are cheaper to build than ADL types.
The Trapper build aka ID (Int/Dex) build on traps to deal their damage. Trappers are the hardest to play because they are very reliant on parties to keep them safe, but they also perform the best when in groups. Trappers are famous for being able to 1 shot Eggyras, but that comes only after becoming a Sniper so beginners should avoid doing a Trapper until then. This is further reinforced by trap damage scaling with base level.
Which Build Should I play?
A common question that people ask over at discord. I usually answer with "go with what looks like fun," but this guide will at least try to point you in the right direction.
The DPS build is best suited for people that will play Sniper as their main/primary character. They are great for soloing content, great for farming because of the kill speed and have great potential for MVPing because of their damage output. However, playing DPS is a commitment. All of your funds will be consumed trying to get that next big equipment, trying to over-up your gear or rerolling your enchants.
The Blitzer build is for people that like to play snipers on a budget. Their power mostly comes from stats and while equipment can enhance this, it does not play as big a role as it does for ADL. Get enough INT to deal good damage, get AGI and LUK to trigger auto blitz frequently enough and you're golden. The only big piece of equipment for this build are T4 Tights; everything else after that is just icing on the cake. Blitzers also have some support potential because they have a skill that can stun and amplify damage to stunned enemies.
The Trapper build is the cheapest to build of the three and also the fastest to level but comes at the cost of limited levelling spots. They need around 3m worth of gear but can get away with less if the player will manually make them sit down to regen SP every now and then. As mentioned earlier, Trappers are famous for 1-shotting Eggyras which gives them near-unparalleled levelling speed. However, trappers are limited to fighting enemies where their traps can exploit elemental weakness. Outside of Eggyras, Trappers have the role of AoE damager with their traps, much like mages. They can also play disabler with the status traps that are available to them.
Lastly Hybrid Builds are for people that like a little of each. For example, it's common for Trappers to also branch into the Falcon branch because they already have the INT to deal good falcon damage. DPS types can also add in a bit of INT into their build for more punch with their auto blitz. Going Jack-of-all-trades build is not recommended; there's not enough skill points to be all three, something will definitely suffer so I suggest picking 2 if you really want to hybrid.
Sample Builds:
*NOTE: These are just sample builds to help you plan your own build.
* DPS - ADL Lvl 90
STR 0
AGI 60
VIT 0
INT 0
DEX 99
LUK 40
This build capitalizes on the insane amount of % bonuses that are available to Snipers by making their PATK go as high as possible. This build will only grow more powerful when more pieces are added.
* DPS - AD lvl 90
STR 0
AGI 77
VIT 0
INT 0
DEX 99
LUK 0
Similar to the above build, but it sacrifices Crit Chance for more attack speed.
* Blitzer - AIL lvl 90
STR 0
AGI 71
VIT 0
INT 80
DEX 0
LUK 58
This builds focuses solely on getting the Auto Blitz to trigger. This will also have a lot of crit, but not enough PATK to make it a main source of damage.
* Trapper - ID lvl 90
STR 0
AGI 0
VIT 0
INT 99
DEX 77
LUK 0
This build has more than enough fire power to 1 shot an Eggyra, but it's great for fighting Earth/Undead elements with Claymore Trap, and fighting Wind element enemies using Land Mine. Notice that it has no defensive stats so it needs a party to protect it. It also has really amazing Falcon damage so it can use Falcon Assault as a backup when the traps aren't dealing as much damage.
* Hybrid Blitzer - Mystical Bow AIDL lvl 90
STR 0
AGI 71
VIT 0
INT 80
DEX 30
LUK 44
Similar to the one before, but it adds a little dex in order to get the 95 Dex bonus of the Mystical Bow. It still focuses on Falcon damage, but it has auto attack damage to fall back on.
DISCLAIMER: Once again, these are only sample builds. These can be changed according to preference or according to equipments available to you. Feel free to modify these to your taste.
