Ragnarok Mobile Archer/Hunter/Sniper Comprehensive Guide 3 - Archer skills
Sniper attack skills can be categorized into three skill trees: Arrow skills, Falcon skills and Trap skills. Snipers also have very useful passives and buff skills in their arsenal. As mentioned before, picking one or two branches is the best way to build your character; picking all three is not a good idea because some skills are weak if not given enough points.
I was originally planning on doing all skills in one post, but it will be too long for my format of 3-5 mins of reading per post so I'll have to break it up into 3 posts. Ok, let's get right to it! I'll start off with the Archer skills.
NOTE: Skill names are based off the English Patch by Roguard Team.
- Double Strafe - The archer's bread and butter skill. I suggest maxing this for new characters without much gear because it will get you to archer job 40 a lot faster. For veterans, you can either get this or Arrow Shower depending on your planned skills. Alternatively, you can take 2 points away from this and put it into Elemental Arrow
Suggested for newbies: 10
Suggested for veterans: 0, 8 or 10
- Owl's Eye - straight forward +10 DEX. All builds should max this, except if you already have your final gear and want to put points in a different skill.
Suggested for all builds: 10
- Vulture's Eye - adds more range and +1 HIT per skill level. For low levels, the added hit will be useful, while in later levels, the extra range will keep you farther away from enemies which is always good for squishy archers. I suggest maxing this or take 2 points away from this to put into Elemental Arrow.
Suggested for all builds: 8 or 10
- Arrow Shower - the archer class's first AoE skill. This is great for clearing West Prontera Cracks, and later on, for grinding on Eggyras with a elemental converter or an Aspersio from a Priest. I still find myself using this skill even after becoming a sniper so you're guaranteed to get a lot mileage from this skill. If you're planning on getting another AoE skill (i.e. trap skills), you can skip this and get another skill.
Suggested for Trappers: 0
Suggested for everyone else: 0, 8 or 10
- Ankle Snare - This skill is great for manual playing, since it can potentially stop an enemy for 20 seconds at max level. That should be more than enough time to kill something within your level range. It's also good for PvP since traps are invisible to hostile players. For Falconeers, the Sandman Trap is more useful for PvP. However, this skill is pretty bad for general PvE when most people just afk farm on auto.
Suggested for DPS/Blitzer PvPers: 0, 2 (8 second snare) or more if you want a longer snare
Suggested for everyone else: 0
- Charge Arrow - I haven't really used this skill much, so I can't really gauge it's usefulness. From my limited time with it, the cast time is too long to be useful in PvE. For PvP, this is useful for knocking someone out of a Safety Wall or Fire Wall but again, I haven't used it enough to vouch for it. Also, there's Round Shot in the Sniper skill section which has knockback too.
Suggested for PvE: 0
Suggested for PvP: 0 or 5
- Elemental Arrow - This skill is the reason for all the seemingly random "8" skill points in the skills above. You either get 2 points here or max it because level 2 allows use of all the elemental arrows, not just fire arrows like the skill suggests. At level 10, it adds 30 ATK which may or may not be useful depending on your build. Trappers/Falconeers only need level 2 if they want to use elemental arrows for use with Double Strafe, while DPS and Blitzers will want to max this because ATK will be increasingly difficult to get as you get better and better gear.
Suggested for Trappers/Falconeers: 0 or 2
Suggested for DPS/Blitzers: 2 or 10
So to wrap it up, here are the suggested skill distribution per build:
Disclaimer: again these are sample skill builds. Feel free to put in points where you want them. For example, I might suggest Arrow Shower but you really want Double Strafe, feel free to change it to suit your needs!
Newbies:
Double Strafe 10
Owl’s Eye 10
Arrow Shower 5
Vulture’s Eye 5
Elemental Arrow 10
We start off with 10 Double Strafe so we get our biggest skill fully operational at the start. This should let you kill most enemies in Prontera Sewers in one cast even with starter gear. Next we get Owl’s Eye 10 to start boosting DEX to get ATK and HIT. At around job level 20, your archer should be strong enough to be able to handle more than 1 mob at a time, so you’ll start needing an AoE skill, which is Arrow Shower. Then at job level 25, having extra range is going to be a lot more useful so we start adding in Vulture’s Eye. Finally, we get the last bit of damage from adding Elemental Arrow 10 and you should be able to afford getting elemental arrows by then so this is a good time to get the skill.
DPS/Blitzers:
Owl’s Eye 10
Vulture’s Eye 10
Elemental Arrow 10
Arrow Shower 10
DPS doesn’t really have that much SP so we should enhance their normal attack damage instead. We’re taking all three passive skills and adding Arrow Shower on top of it for AoE. We’re not taking Double Strafe because of it’s cast delay. Blitzers have Falcon Assault to fill in their single target skill needs so they have no need for Double Strafe or if using Double Bound, it’s already built into the bow.
Trappers:
Owl’s Eye 10
Vulture’s Eye 10
Double Strafe 10
Ankle Snare 5
Charge Arrow 5
This build is mostly for manual playing and only after you’ve become a trapper as a Sniper. If you’re going to auto, the DPS/Blitzer skill build should be good for you too. We’re taking Double Strafe because we’re going to want a single target skill since all damage traps are AoE. Ankle Snare is for stopping certain monsters, and Charge Arrow is for pushing monsters into your traps.
