Ragnarok Mobile Archer/Hunter/Sniper Comprehensive Guide 4 - Hunter skills
Ragnarok Mobile Archer Guide: Hunter Skills and Skill Builds
This is part 2 of the skills section and we're tackling Hunter skills. The Hunter skill tree is where we can actually see the paths diverge for the archer class. We can clearly see the arrow skills on top, falcon skills in the middle and trap skills at the bottom. If you're DPS your skills should still be the same. Blitzers and Falconeers can start adding INT to supplement their falcon damage after about job level 15 or so. Trappers on the other hand might be tempted to reset as soon as they change to Hunter but I strongly advise against it because trap damage is horribly low as a Hunter because base level is used in the formula. I suggest waiting to be a Sniper first before going trapper. Feel free to change anytime though!
Let's continue evaluating the skills one by one:
- Attention Concentrate - passive skill that gives 1 AGI and DEX per level. A straightforward skill, better than Owl's Eye because it gives AGI, but the real question is when should we put points here? I went with the obvious answer of "right at the start!" but I regretted it when I reached job level 30 as a Hunter. At around this point, job levels are especially hard to obtain and getting 1 DEX and 1 AGI is not as big of a boost as I thought it was when compared to getting a bigger multiplier on my attack skills. I did a skill reset at job level 32, got all my attack skills maxed, then started putting points back here again. Just remember to allot enough skill points to max this out, this is still a must-max skill!
Recommended Skill points: 10
- Split Arrow - attacks the target enemy deals splash damage to the enemies surrounding it. Sounds like a pretty cool skill, but the numbers just doesn't support it. While it's good that it has no target limit (which Arrow Shower has), it has a hefty SP cost and DPS are already SP starved. The SP is better spent on Fatal Arrow or on Arrow Shower when you want to deal AoE damage. The June 21 update gave runes to increase it's damage and gave it interesting interaction with the burning arrow shower rune, but it's too early to tell if it's worth the investment. It's only use for now is to be a prerequisite for the more useful Fatal Arrow.

- Fatal Arrow - the skill description is a bit misleading, the actual effect is that it puts a debuff on the target which amplifies your normal attack damage to it by 30% which is a pretty hefty boost. Unfortunately, it only boosts the caster's damage so this isn't a party damage boost. Increasing the skill level will increase the duration of the debuff, increase the damage and increase the SP cost. This is the best arrow skill in the Hunter Skill Tree so I highly recommend getting this for DPS. Blitzers don't have enough skill points to get this, and Trappers are too busy casting traps to bother casting this.

- Blitz Beat - Now we move to the Falcons section of the skill tree. Blitz Beat has an initial 5% chance, and will increase by 1% for every 3 LUK. Increasing the skill level will increase the base damage of the falcon attack. For those coming from PC RO, Blitz Beat will only hit 1 target unlike before where the damage gets split to nearby enemies, so no need to fear accidentally aggroing enemies. Blitzers and Falconeers must max this skill for the highest base damage. For DPS, putting points in here is a good idea because it will still deal around 800-900 "free" damage and will increase base PATK when you get the Tamer skill in the Sniper skill tree later on. Pure Trappers don't have anywhere else to put their points so might as well get this too.

- Falcon Assault - Now things get more interesting. Falcon Assault at max level deals 5x Blitz Beat's damage. With high INT, this usually does somewhere around 7k-8k damage, with Mountain Ranger Tights equipped, it goes up to 15k-20k damage(!). Blitzers and Falconeers must max this skill. Trappers are also recommended to get this since they already have the INT to support the damage. Most DPS don't get this skill anymore since they don't have the SP or the INT for it.
Recommended for Blitzers, Falconeers, Trappers: 5

- Beast Master - Probably the most "boring" skill in the Falcon Tree. At max level, it adds 60 damage to Blitz Beat, which is equal to 300 damage for Falcon Assault. Luckily, it has interesting interactions with 2 weapons and it has runes. Double Bound and Cursed Lyre both increase the bonus damage while there are runes that will increase the amount by 35% in total. If you're looking to boost your Falcon damage, get this skill.
Recommended for Blitzers, Falconeers, Trappers: 10
Recommended for DPS: 0 or 10
- Flash Arrow - This skill reveals enemies in an area. This won't reveal ghost type enemies though so this is a utility skill that seems to be only for PvP. If you're planning on getting it, the first level is already for 10 seconds, more than enough time to kill or get killed in PvP.
Recommended for PvPers: 1 or 3

- Freezing Trap - a trap that deals ice damage, and will either Freeze or Slow enemies. Increasing the skill level will increase damage, freeze chance and SP cost. It has some potential for crowd control with the freeze/slow, but it comes at the cost of damage; Freezing Trap has the lowest damage multiplier of all the damage traps. You can consider this as a crowd control trap that has _some_ damage instead of a damage trap. If you have nowhere else to put your skill points, this is a good candidate.

- Claymore Trap - Finally, a decent damage trap! This has a much better damage multiplier and has no added effects aside from damage. For Trappers, I recommended maxing even if the damage isn't impressive as a Hunter, just so you potentially can save a reset stick when you switch. Just remember that Base Level is part of the damage formula for traps, the damage will improve as you level up and increase you INT and DEX.
Recommended for Trappers: 5
Recommended for everyone else: 0 or 5.
- Detonate - triggers (all!) the traps you laid out and makes them deal up to 30% additional damage. Sounds pretty good, right? Unfortunately, in practice things are very different. Enemies will trigger traps as soon as they touch them making the timing for this skill difficult. There's a rune to make it so traps don't trigger immediately, but that would mean you'd have to trigger them manually every time. I'm not sure if the AI is smart enough to cast detonate with the rune because I don't have it. I'm waiting for someone to vouch for the skill and the rune in discord.
Recommended for Trappers: 0 or 3

Now we go to sample builds per type:
DPS
Split Arrow - 5
Fatal Arrow - 10
Attention Concentrate - 10
(15 points remaining)
That gives us 25 points, and 15 skill points left over. You can invest in the Blitzer skills for a chance at "free" damage when Auto Blitz triggers. I suggest picking up 10 Blitz Beat and 5 Beast Mastery since Falcon Assault will deal really poor damage without INT. Alternatively, you can pick up Freezing Trap so you can have a soft crowd control skill. If you're a PvPer, make sure to get at least 1 point in Flash Arrow. You'll need it for Assassins and people with Smokie Card.
Blitzer/Falconeer
Blitz Beat - 10
Falcon Assault - 5
Beast Master - 10
Attention Concentrate - 10
(5 points left over)
Blitzers and Falconeers get the short end of the stick when it comes to free skill points since 25 is needed from the Hunter skill tree and Attention Concentrate is too good to skip. You can pick up a either of the traps, or invest in Ankle Snare from the Archer Tree if you pick up the Immobile Damage Rune (in total gives 40% extra dmg to Ankle Snared targets). Like above, PvPers need to get atleast 1 point in Flash Arrow to help with hiding enemies.
Trappers
Claymore Trap - 5
Attention Concentrate - 10
(25 skill points left over)
Trappers get a LOT of freedom in investing in other skills, a complete contrast to Blitzers. I'm keeping it to just those 2 skills, because the rest of the Trapper skills are personal preference. You can take Freezing Trap if you're planning on getting the Freezing Trap Runes to deal extra damage with Ice element attacks (to be confirmed if it works with wizard skills too). You can take the Detonate Rune that makes it so Traps only trigger when Detonated (still to be confirmed if the AI can do this). There are 5 Runes that will increase the total damage bonus by 35 too, so that will give traps an extra 65%(!) damage when detonated. You also have the option to pick up Falcon skills so you can be a hybrid Trapper/Falconeer (which is generally a good idea).
That's it for today, I'll finish up the skills section with the Sniper Skills tomorrow!
