Isekai Campaign Episode 12 - The Goddess Of Fate Summoned Us To Another World To Be Her Champions, But She Won't Tell Us What To Do!

Previously on The Goddess Of Fate Summoned Us To Another World To Be Her Champions, But She Won't Tell Us What To Do!:

Four Japanese High School students were hit by a truck and brought to a magical world called Risturan by Bruni, the Goddess of Fate to be her champions. While escorting Brod, the former head of Bakri's adventurers' guild to the jail in Filmelon to face justice for his crimes, the party rescued the daughter of Baron Filmelon, Primri, and were invited to stay at the baron's estate.

Our heroes:

• Sato - carries a katana and dreams of being a samurai

• Tobe - carries a bow and enjoys tracking and sneaking

• Okita - has two companion animals, a spark rabbit named Yokai-chan and a wind hawk named Riku-chan, and enjoys the creepy things

• Akuto - wannabe gangster who talks with his fists

Together they are The Mourning Cloaks, a bronze level adventuring party.

Tonight's session:

During breakfast, the Mourning Cloaks received a message from Cassar, the sheriff of Filmelon, that the Pantheon Council (a local council of representatives of the various gods) was going to meet that morning and would like the team to share what they new of the Demon Lord Cult in Bakri town. They shared what they knew:

• They discovered a new dungeon outside of Poppybrook.

• Assassins tried to kill them outside the dungeon.

• They discovered a letter among their things connecting Brod to the Demon Lord Cult.

• The cultists they've found have a particular tattoo on them.

• The tattoo has killed at least one member who revealed that they worked for the Demon Lord.

• Brod had abducted Brish, the assistant director, as well as the mayor's daughters.

• Brod was able to activate a tattoo on another cultist which turned him into a demon.

• The team defeated Brod and the demon and brought Brod to the jail in Filmelon.

The council decided to send a messenger to the capital and request the use of an inquisitor, or Truth Seer, who could help them root out the Demon Lord Cult among them. They expected the inquisitor to come in a week's time. Flenk, priest of Kukek, the God of Adventure, and the head of the Filmelon branch of the Adventurers' Guild, invited the team to the guild office to discuss the dungeon. They agreed, but asked who the representative of Bruni was. Flenk called over and introduced them to Wellig, a professor of statistics. Wellig explained that Bruni, the goddess of chaos and fate, never appointed a priesthood, but those who are interested in the future find their own ways of revering her, such as studying statistics. They told him they had an interest in Bruni. He recognized their group name "Mourning Cloaks" as a type of butterfly, which is the symbol of Bruni. Okita told him the story from their homeland of the flapping of butterflies causing natural disasters, and suggested that was why she chose the butterfly as her symbol. He thought it was a delightful story, but bemoaned that they did not know her reasons for certain. The team gave each other knowing looks, as they had all met her in person. Wellig excused himself and invited them to visit him at the university at any time.

Before they left the temple, Akuto gathered flowers from all the other gods' shrines and put them in front of Bruni. When nothing happened, he went to eat one of the flowers, but a bee came out and attacked him. With his superior speed, he caught the bee by the wings and ate it.

The team went to the Adventurers' Guild and were shown into Flenk's office. They told him about the new dungeon they had discovered. He said that he would personally take a team to investigate it and secure it. He assured them that as the discoverers, they would have first priority on exploration rights, but they needed to secure it immediately and the Mourning Cloaks had to stay in town for at least a week. Tobe asked him if making discoveries in the dungeon would please Kukek and be enough to obtain his blessing. Flenk said it was likely. The other members gave her the side eye as they weren't sure what she was talking about. He was surprised that they were still Bronze Level Adventurers, as they were able to defeat Brod, and handed them a letter to give to the receptionist to have them promoted.

In the reception hall, the receptionist took their guild tags and put them in a sort of die press, which rang loudly and turned their bronze tags to silver. She then announced "The newest Silver Level Adventurers, The Mourning Cloaks!" There was loud applause from the other adventurers. Okita, ever the introvert, made her exit before the others could. They left to meet Lady Filmelon for lunch and to get new outfits for Primri's Birthday Ball, with varied levels of excitement.

Lessons:

• You can do multiple sessions without combat and still have fun.

• You can come up with new NPC's more quickly if you have names already picked out.

• Though it's a better idea to match names to jobs (such as priests to various gods) before the session starts.
