Novel Translation: How Dare You
Ep 26: Xiahou Dan wants to leave Yu Wanuin behind for the Empress Dowager's funeral, but she convinces him to bring her. Prince Duan is there, looking very suspicious. Assassins start to attack the procession. They capture the leader and he starts to frame Minister Yu (the female lead's father). The plant tries to confess to a love affair with the empress but the emperor is having none of it (the way I screamed!):
Keep bringing guns to sword fights
Er Long runs to push over a boulder. Li tries to go too, Er Long stops him by confessing to being a woman. They all run up and push a big boulder down on the soldiers. "Wanuin" is doing well with her gun until she runs out of bullets and is captured. It's Mr. Bei in disguise. He fights Prince Duan. The boulder falls on Prince Duan and Mr. Bei runs away with Xiahou Dan.
Turns out Xiahou Dan lied to Yu Wanuin:
Unfortunately their carriage is attacked. Xie Yonger goes out to distract the captors. She is stabbed. Yu Wanuin comes out shooting but it's too late
Knew this would happen, still sad!
Xie Yonger guesses that she's a character, which Wanuin denies. They give her a sea burial.
Xiahou Dan confesses to Mr. Bei that he's a transmigrator so not actually his mother's child that Mr. Bei swore to protect. They part.
Ep 27: Yu Wanuin wants to go back to the palace. Her guards try to convince her to stay, eventually giving her a letter from Xiahou Dan. This is the confession we've all be waiting for!
Break my heart more why don't you
He's been in the novel for more than 16 years and started to question if his "real life" even existed before Yu Wanuin arrived in the novel (no wonder). He confesses that he used her to try to win and pretended that he was fully modern like her. He says he is already changed and dying, so he only wanted to save her and not himself.
Lines from the novel to enhance the angst (they left most of them in): You came too late, Wanyin. There are no more like you waiting here. You can only encounter someone as insane as I’ve become. Born but not human, I’m deeply sorry... I no longer have a hometown; you are my hometown
In the palace, doctors are called to save "his majesty" but it's Prince Duan. Yu Wanuin is told the capital city is surrounded by solders. She decides to follow Xiahou Dan's plan from the letter.
Yu Wanuin is sick, so they beg for shelter in a small village. They are told Prince Duan has rebelled but no one knows the outcome. Yu Wanuin overhears the peasants talking and realizes that Xiahou Dan knew the world they were living in very well and tried to do the right things for his country. They catch a small thief while leaving the house and are able to stay.

Xiahou Dan is captured by the army
There are soldiers searching the town, so Yu Wanuin also needs to run away. Wanuin goes back to free the little thief. She tells the guards to abandon her, but they are too loyal. The thief (her credit is Mute Girl), takes them to her hiding place.
Prince Duan visits Xiahou Dan is prison. Dan mocks him for hating the puppet crown prince/emperor and not the Empress Dowager, whom they were both afraid of. Then we switch to Er Long treating her wound and Li barging in. We recover from the tonal shift whiplash. Li says that Prince Duan has called everyone to court. Er Long asks Li to continue to conceal her identity.
The Mute Girl offers to lead Yu Wanuin and her guards to where they need to go. Wanuin names her "flower."
AH THE PROMOS! THE PROMOS! I need to watch this entire show NOW! See everyone tomorrow!
