DISCLAIMER

A lot of you probably know about the weekly hero discussion, but that often ends up in a meta discussion (whether or not the hero needs buffs, etc) or a meme war than actual tips to play, itemize and build the hero.

This is what I'd like to do. Please discuss any notes I made and possible improvements while also giving tips of your own if you have them.

The roles, skill builds and item builds, as well as a lot of the notes are my opinion on matters and should not be seen as a must do or don't. Also remember that almost every single build or role is situationally possible.

A lot of the tips on heroes were also mentioned in tsunami's amazing hero tips series he did over the last couple of years.

Doom

Role: Jungler, solo laner, hard carry

Item build:

• Hard carry: Midas, Radiance, AC, (agh's, Heart, Blade Mail, Octarine, BKB, Refresher, Shiva's)
• Utility: Stout shield, Wand, Phase, Shadow blade/Blink, (BKB, Drum, Shiva's, Vlad's, Refresher, Aghs, Octarine, AC)

Skill build: lvl 1 Devour, max Scorched earth -> Blade -> Devour

Notes:

• The max Devour build has the highest build rate with 11% compared to the 7 of the next most popular build but it has a whopping 6-7% (!!!) lower win rate.
• Creeps to get for laning early: Goblin taskmaster for MS or Troll priest for mana aura and heal
• Creeps to get for mid game: Centaur for stomp or Mud golem for boulder
• Creeps to get for late game: Alpha wolf for damage aura, Troll if you need something to break linken's through BKB
• Creeps to get for jungling: Big red satyr for HP regen or blue ogre for armor
• Doom also cancels true sight someone would get from gem, as well as pipe, mek
• Versus: Pay attention to doom's spells. Don't TP after Infernal blade if he has centaur stomp for instance
• Versus: Deny allies when doomed
• Versus: Get a hero with decent attack animation and damage to lane against him
• If the enemy has Omniknight you really want the small Satyr as Doom. It's a free Purge without having to worry about charges.
• Good versus: Brood (scorched earth, doom), IO, Centaur, Tide (Doom), Axe (Aghs Doom mutes spin and you don't have great attack speed)
• Counters: WK (Reincarnation still works), Troll, LS, Viper, Drow (Owns Doom at least as long as he doesn't have aghs)
