Isekai Campaign Episode 19 - The Goddess Of Fate Summoned Us To Another World To Be Her Champions, But She Won't Tell Us What To Do!
Previously on The Goddess Of Fate Summoned Us To Another World To Be Her Champions, But She Won't Tell Us What To Do!:
Four Japanese High School students were hit by a truck and brought to a magical world called Risturan by Bruni, the Goddess of Fate to be her champions. Since arriving, they have done a lot of do-gooding in the Filmelon Barony, such as various rescues, as well as defeating and capturing a number of criminals.
Our heroes:
- Sato - carries a katana and dreams of being a samurai
- Tobe - carries a bow and enjoys tracking and sneaking
- Okita - has two companion animals, a spark rabbit named Yokai-chan and a wind hawk named Riku-chan, and enjoys the creepy things
- Akuto - wannabe gangster who talks with his fists
Together they are The Mourning Cloaks, a silver level adventuring party.
Tonight's session:
After their dancing and etiquette lesson (to prepare for the upcoming ball, see episode 11), Baron Filmelon invited the Mourning Cloaks into his office. He thanked them for everything they had done for his barony, including saving the life of his daughter. He wanted to reward them with a house in Filmelon City. They heartily accepted and he introduced them to Cachato, a land broker from the Merchants' Guild.
After she showed them several properties which were not according to their requested specifications at all, Tobe asked if she had any other properties, and Okita asked if she had any good properties. She said there was one, and showed them a large manor in the same neighborhood as the baron's estate with multiple floors, front and back gardens, stables, and a full wall surrounding the house. It basically had everything they asked for. When they asked why she hadn't sold it to them, she said that for the past hundred years, no one ever lived in that house for longer than a week before moving out and selling it again, usually at a loss. They never said why, but the house wouldn't stay occupied. In fact, they were the first people she'd shown it to in over a year.
They said that they weren't afraid (of no ghosts, hehe). Okita sensed something in the house, like something was sleeping, yet aware. They searched the house and found no sign of entry, but also much less dust than you would expect from a house that had been empty for a year. They decided to stay the night, and left to make some purchases.
At the market, they purchased garlic and herbs said to ward off spirits. They also heard countless wild stories of why the house was abandoned, ranging from hauntings caused by murders and suicides, to government plots and demons.
They met Cachato at the house at dusk and she let them in, and said she'd meet them in the morning, if they were still there. As darkness fell, they heard a crash from the kitchen. They found a broken plate on the floor, but nothing else. Okita said they should hold a séance in the basement, as it was the creepiest place.
To be continued...
Lessons learned:
- If your players have any non-combatant skills, come up with a way for them to use those skills.
- If there is a reason you have to hold short sessions (eg someone has an early bedtime), be considerate and show up on time.
