Isekai Campaign Episode 22 - The Goddess Of Fate Summoned Us To Another World To Be Her Champions, But She Won't Tell Us What To Do!

Our heroes:

• Sato - carries a katana and dreams of being a samurai
• Tobe - carries a bow and enjoys tracking and sneaking
• Okita - has two companion animals, a spark rabbit named Yokai-chan and a wind hawk named Riku-chan, and enjoys the creepy things
• Akuto - wannabe gangster who talks with his fists

Together they are The Mourning Cloaks, a silver level adventuring party.

Four Japanese High School students were hit by a truck and brought to a magical world called Risturan by Bruni, the Goddess of Fate to be her champions. After rescuing Primri, the daughter of Baron Filmelon, from bandits, they were invited to her birthday ball.

Tonight's session:

Tobe woke up early, excited for the ball. She then realized that it was Primri's birthday, and they hadn't gotten her any presents. Nor did they know if that was a custom on Risturan. She woke up Waiyu, Primri's younger brother (who the day before had revealed to them that he was also from Earth and had been reborn in Risturan) if gifts were given on birthdays. Waiyu expressed the opinion that saving her from bandits was an excellent present, but that they do give gifts to friends and family. Akuto offered to give the sleeves he had torn off of his school uniform to her as legwarmers.

Tobe went to wake up Okita. She picked the lock to her bedroom door, and was blasted into the wall by a wind gust from Riku-chan. Okita refused to get up, and managed to slip out of Tobe's grip and slither under her bed. They promised to have food sent up for her. At breakfast, they greeted Primri and wished her a Happy Birthday. During breakfast, Primri's older brother, Salbur, arrived from the capital city, Regis. After breakfast, the baroness led them through their last dance and etiquette lesson before the ball. Tobe and Akuto had improved in both areas. Sato showed little to no improvement in either, preferring to fight her way through problems than talk things out, and, while skilled at ken-do, tripped over her feet while dancing. Okita, if anything, seemed to have gotten worse at etiquette.

After the lesson they made themselves scarce while the baroness prepared the manor for the ball. On the advice of their trusted haberdasher, they found a shop that sold concealable accessories. They thought this would be a good fit as they knew that Primri, while prim and proper in public, secretly harbored dreams of adventure. On the way to the shop, Akuto decided to pickpocket the richest man he saw, who was offended that this street ruffian would dare bump into him. He stole a necklace inscribed "To Primri, from your uncle Kilbo." Realizing he had just stolen Primri's birthday present, Akuto told the man that he had dropped it and gave it back. They met the accessories seller, and he had just the items they were looking for.

They returned to Filmelon Manor and found it stuffed with flowers for the ball. Primri introduced them to her friend Lowin, the daughter of duke Tandalin, who was meeting with the Baron. Primri was called into her father's office and emerged a few minutes later, visibly upset, though she tried to hide it. She wouldn't say what had upset her, but Akuto figured she had been arranged to be married. The Duke and his daughter left, and everyone prepared for the ball.

Lessons learned:

• If you have a month between games due to holidays and illnesses, don't wait until the day of to prepare for the session.
• Having a long list of names to use was very helpful.
• Your players can help in various ways, particularly if they are more experienced than you are. For example, I asked one of my players if she could find me a map of a manor house we could use, and she had one in just a few minutes.
