DISCLAIMER

A lot of you probably know about the weekly hero discussion, but that often ends up in a meta discussion (whether or not the hero needs buffs, etc) or a meme war than actual tips to play, itemize and build the hero.

This is what I'd like to do. Please discuss any notes I made and possible improvements while also giving tips of your own if you have them.

The roles, skill builds and item builds, as well as a lot of the notes are my opinion on matters and should not be seen as a must do or don't. Also remember that almost every single build or role is situationally possible.

A lot of the tips on heroes were also mentioned in tsunami's amazing hero tips series he did over the last couple of years.

Notes:

• Terrible auto attack animation, but very long range
• Laguna blade has a relatively low cool down. Don't be afraid to use it, especially as a support.
• Aghs is not a must-have! If you or someone on your team bought magic amp or the enemy has magic amp of its own (necrophos, pugna, ghost scepter), consider foregoing it.
• Once you get enough mana, don't be afraid to constantly use your skills to keep your fiery soul stacks up, especially when pushing
• Versus: Think twice about buying a ghost scepter or eul's against their carry
• Friends: SK, VS, carries with a stun, shadow demon, OD, Nyx, Bane (set up chain stun)
• Good versus: TB (low HP pool, high armor), Necro (ghost shroud), Troll, Meepo (eul's, high burst), Phoenix (fiery soul, eul's), Abaddon (you can kill him before ult auto triggers)
• Counters: Pugna (Nether ward), Razor (builds blade mail, tanky, passive), TA (refraction), Weaver, Mirana, Tusk (evasive), Centaur, Bara (tanky, builds blade mail)

Role: support, mid

Item build:

• Support: wand/bottle, arcanes, eul's, (force staff -> pike, blink, agh's, bloodstone, Aether lens)
• Mid: bottle, arcanes (if going bloodstone)/phase, (eul's, force staff -> pike, blink, aether lens, bloodstone, aghs, BoT, Octarine, BKB, Bloodthorn, shadow blade)

Skill build: lvl 1 SLA > max dragon slave > value point in fiery soul
