Isekai Campaign Episode 24 - The Goddess Of Fate Summoned Us To Another World To Be Her Champions, But She Won't Tell Us What To Do!

Our heroes:

• Sato - carries a katana and dreams of being a samurai
• Tobe - carries a bow and enjoys tracking and sneaking
• Okita - has two companion animals, a spark rabbit named Yokai-chan and a wind hawk named Riku-chan, and enjoys the creepy things
• Akuto - wannabe gangster who talks with his fists

Together they are The Mourning Cloaks, a silver level adventuring party.

Previously on The Goddess Of Fate Summoned Us To Another World To Be Her Champions, But She Won't Tell Us What To Do!:

Four Japanese High School students were hit by a truck and brought to a magical world called Risturan by Bruni, the Goddess of Fate to be her champions. After rescuing Primri, the daughter of Baron Filmelon, from bandits, they were invited to her birthday ball.

Tonight's session:

The Mourning Cloaks approached the dance with moods ranging from excitement to trepidation. Various people showed up to the dance, some they know, some they don't. In the first dance, Tobe danced with Siilder (see episode 16), Captain Rostbar's first mate, and learned that Captain Rostbar didn't get The Triumph (the ship they captured from the smugglers), which should have been his by right, due to "politics." Akuto saw two of the seamstresses they had rescued from the smugglers, and noticed that they were eyeing him up. He stated that he intended to ask both of them to dance and asked which one wouldn't mind waiting. The sisters played rock-paper-scissors and the loser, the older sister, bowed out. Akuto and the younger sister had pleasant chitchat. Primri's older brother, Salbur, asked Sato to dance. He was dressed in the latest styles from the capital and was polite but self-centered and boring. Okita was approached by Captain Rostbar, who started a conversation about being the only ones at the party with birds and asked her to dance. She danced horribly and embarrassed herself.

Akuto stopped Okita before she completely ran off and lent her his handkerchief and gave some encouraging words. Tobe also saw Okita run off and found her hiding in her room. She gave her what comfort she could and Inspired her to try again and dance better. As Akuto started his dance with the older sister, he found himself about to stumble, but made a quick prayer to Bruni and felt his feet falling into the correct places. As she missed the start of the dance to comfort Okita, Tobe spent the rest of the dance watching Rostbar, who was having some polite chitchat with Sato. She noticed that he was stealing glances towards Primri, who was dancing with Duke Tandalin (see episode 23), while Primri was carefully not looking at him.

In the third dance, Tobe was asked to dance by Captain Rostbar, and lost no time grilling him on his feelings for Primri and whether they can be together. Captain Rostbar cautiously said that he was fond of Primri, as they had been friends since childhood, but that she was bound by her station to marry within nobility. Akuto danced with Primri's cousin, Pepro, and asked her the chances Primri would be in an arranged marriage, if it would be announced at a ball like this, and how Primri would react to the situation. Pepro said that she would probably be in an arranged marriage, it's possible that it could be announced at a ball, since Primri had just come of age, and that Primri dreams of adventure, but would ultimately do what is right for the barony. Sato had a pleasant dance with Siilder as they chatted about swords and fighting. Okita emerged from her room to stand near the party but not in it. She was approached by Waiyu, Primri's younger brother (see episodes 21 and 22). He asked her to follow him and led her to Primri's room, which was underneath the musicians, where they could hear the music, but be away from the crowd. He asked her to dance, and Inspired by Tobe's pep talk, had a very pleasant dance with him.

As the ball continued, the Mourning Cloaks plotted how to get Captain Rostbar to defy tradition and claim his love.

Lessons learned:

• If you are going to have PCs dance with NPCs, make a list in advance which NPCs will want to ask which PCs to dance.
• If you make a list of things NPCs will talk about during dances, CONSULT THE LIST DURING THE DANCE.
