DISCLAIMER
A lot of you probably know about the weekly hero discussion, but that often ends up in a meta discussion (whether or not the hero needs buffs, etc) or a meme war than actual tips to play, itemize and build the hero.
This is what I'd like to do. Please discuss any notes I made and possible improvements while also giving tips of your own if you have them.
The roles, skill builds and item builds, as well as a lot of the notes are my opinion on matters and should not be seen as a must do or don't. Also remember that almost every single build or role is situationally possible.
A lot of the tips on heroes were also mentioned in tsunami's amazing hero tips series he did over the last couple of years.
Nature's prophet
Notes:
- The reason furion is a good offlaner is because of treants. They can scout for you and block the enemy pull camp.
- Another, less important reason is he can easily catch up once he gets 6 and midas
- Sprout gives a lot of flying vision. Use it to scout the high ground or find juking enemies
- You can target your sprout on the enemy during TP animation. You will cast the moment you get in range after your TP
- Shadow blade is not a must have imo because in most cases Sprout + TP will get you out in the early game and you will get sheep stick or a different silence rather fast for mid game escapes.
- It's no shame to get TP scrolls. Use it to snipe couriers and get out immediately without the risk of being caught.
- You can use the TP animation and cancel it to scare enemies into diving your allies.
- In most cases in early game you want to TP out of sight for a gank
- You can still benefit from the fountain mana regen if you queue your nature's call while teleporting to a lane. This goes for a lot of heroes' skills.
- If you get lucky (but it can't hurt to try) you can trap your enemies a lot longer if you nature's call just when your sprout is about to disappear around a hero, especially with the +4 treant talent.
- You typically want to cast your ult when you see creeps in every lane and target it on the lane without enemy heroes
- Counters: Tangoes and quelling blade/iron talon early, force staff/battle fury mid game
- Versus: Make sure you have at least one hero in your team with a ground targetted stun or something to clear trees.
- Counters: Bara, BH, Nyx, Storm, Spectre, AM, Slark, LC (great ganking potential and/or global presence), Timber (tree clearing)
- Good versus: Chen, WD (squishy, not very mobile), Enigma, Warlock, Lich, Tide, AA, Undying, Veno (big teamfighters)
- Versus: Get a flying courier asap and be careful with it
- Versus: If you see prophet ult somewhere on the map, get out of sight. If you get hit with no one else around, be wary of invis enemies or wards
- Furion always faces the direction he's going to teleport in
- Quick sprout tp escape: Double tap sprout hotkey, double tap TP hotkey
Role: offlane (, jungler)
Item build:
- Classic: (RoB, ) Midas, Treads, (shadow blade, Dragon Lance, Sheep stick, orchid --> bloodthorn, deso, daedalus, BKB, MKB, necro, aghs, maelstrom)
- Max Sprout teamfight build: Midas, Treads, Mek, Necro, Sheep
- Early fighter build: 2 - 5 null talismans, blademail, maelstrom
Skill build: Treants --> TP --> Sprout
